848 service belts only - tyres

  1. Hi,

well my first service with the 848 is close. It's needs the belts doing. I was planning on doing all the usual stuff oil, brake fluid etc myself and just getting the belts done by the pro's. think it's worth doing that to save a few quid?

also any recommendations on where to go, I live near Milton Keynes. Was thinking either on her bike at Aylesbury or forza italia at silverstone.

might switch the tyres while Its under the knife, It has mitchelin 2ct pilot powers on it, I've always ran super corsa's on my other bikes. Any strong recommendations while I'm at it?

Had it out on Saturday for a couple of hours, loved it :)

  2. Always a good idea to get the belts done by a dealer. Ive heard good things about On Yer Bike. Metropolis in Barnet is great (bit of a schlep down the M1 though), buy yeah oil and filter change you can do yourself and is good thing to be able to do, just be a bit careful of the sump bolt, just the usual stuff really.
The 2cts are great, but i'd go for some Rosso Corsas, or some PR3s which have a better lifespan

  3. Are Baines Racing still servicing Ducati's at Silverstone?
Always use to take my 916 there back in the nineties, 70 odd mile ride but far better service than local (to me) Ducati dealers at the time.
unless you are still under warranty of course

  4. Cheers guys,
yeah i just had a look and Baines are still there, looks like a few decent options, ill have to give them all a call!
Ill leave the belts to the pros defiantly and do the fluids myself. Also want to change my rear shock, I have the part but think ill get them to do that too.
thanks for the tips on the tyres, ill give these 2ct's a few runs and see what I make of them before I change.i have Had a job finding the recommended pressure on them, keep seeing different things. Looks like 34/36 is about the most common preference.

  5. I changed the OEM tyres to Dunlop Sportsmart. They instantly felt SO much nicer, to me.

  6. Thanks, ill bear that in mind for the next change ;)
