Trip to John O Groats, awesome.

  1. Hi all, well I went to visit family in Campbeltown, the road down there is awesome from Loch Lomond. Next overnight stop in Inverness, had a good night in Hootenanny's.
Then to John o Groats taking in some of my favourite roads, met a nice lad who happened to own a restaurant in Lochinver so headed there along the North from West to East.
His hospitality was fantastic, great meal, great beer! Great little B and B
Then from there back home through Glencoe and again a few deviations for some more twisties.
The roads are awesome, even in the wet you can wheech along as so many of the corners have shell grip on them, particularly Loch Ness side.
The North used to be my home, my work and my playground, to go back and ride the roads on the Multi was a pleasure, I have ridden them on an R1, Gixer1000,Gs1200 but the Multi wins by far, all day comfy, sounds great and was ultra reliable and rock solid handling wise.
Again the PR3s were great, no moments at all, here is a comparison between the PR3 and a Bridgestone Battlax on the mates Triumph ST.
The other picture was taken at Tongue, the picture does not do the view justice, it truly is a beautiful place.
So 3 nights away, 1550 miles, great roads, good beer, stunning scenery and if you are passing then pop into the Caberfeigh in Lochinver!! Great food, great company.
If you havent been, then do it!!

  2. Tempting, sounds great! That Multi looks nice too.

  3. Definately Multi country up there....the only time I have been up there was with Milovanmultistrada leading the way .......it was like heaven

  4. I love the north of Scotland

  5. Done Scotland twice on the Multi so far but never got to the far north, must do it sometime soon. Couldn't believe how quiet the roads were - fantastic

  6. Been up there a couple of times in the last year, must have hit lucky with the weather which was excellent on both trips, Durness Campsite is particularly splendid and as previously pointed out, the roads are very quiet.

  10. I got to work (6am) this morning after a good blast, feeling really good about the day and now having seen this picture I really don't want to be here

now I have to wait till 3.30 to get back on the bike for the scenic route home I think:wink:

  12. Hi Andy,
that sounds like a fantastic idea, a Northern Mutley Run!!
I would be interested in helping but in my experience trying to organise a holiday ride can make you bald!!
But, maybe if we had a list set up of peeps interested and time off year they are available that would be a start.
I can offer some local knowledge for routes etc.
