Due to my other half now being out of work for over a year, I've got to start pulling the belt tight, which means the hardest of decisions, which has been to let go of my SS. I'd rather offer it up here first before putting it up on the bay, as I know how well she'd get looked after. I'm Ideally looking for 4-4.5k or a reasonable offer. Truth be told, its the new owner that's more important than the final figure. :frown: She's on her second owner, and was crashed (30mph) and bought back from the insurance company in '99 and subsequently went to Baines Racing. She's a great bike and anyone who's read the thread in the projects section will know how much I love this bike, but I can't majic jobs or money out of the hat as much as I'd wish it otherwise. 1994 Ducati 900ss Supersport 21,XXX Miles Body Work Genuine Ducati Superlight Seat Unit and pads Carbon Front mudguard (original red one will be supplied) Carbon Rear Hugger Carbon Open Clutch cover Brakes Braided Hoses Front and Rear Radial Brake Master Cylinder Radial Clutch Master Cylinder Wheels and Tyres Marchesini Magnesium 5 Spoke rims (Technomagnesio Takeover era - so proper light) Original Rims Pirelli Angel Tyres Chassis Ohlins Rear shock absorber Carbon Fibre Footped hangers and rearsets Swingarm Modified to accept Bobbins Front and rear Paddock stands New chain and +3 teeth rear sprocket (36T will also be supplied) Fork seals renewed Engine - By Baines Racing Vee Two Lightweight Aluminium Clutch Basket and Hub Sureflex Clutch Plates Ported and flowed heads Bigger Inlet valves High compression Cosworth Pistons 1098 Oil cooler with Earls braided oil lines Keihin 41mm Flatslide carbs - rolling road setup by Steve Jordan Racing. Emptied. IF I stick it on the bay, I was going to start it at 4.5 I need to get it running after its winter sleep, and some new photo's taken of it. Oh and get my prayer matt out that she gets another job!
Sev the bike sounds awesome from your description, I'd love to see some photos. I really hope you can find a way to hang on to it.
Sorry to hear this sev, would you not be better putting it back to standard ish? and selling it and the parts separately?
I wish I could, but I sold off most of the standard stuff the last time we fell on hard times to stop me from having to sell it. But back then nothing for this bike went for very much on ebay and parts were plentiful. Also, I don't want to have to break a bike again, it attracts harpies and scavengers all chancing their luck. I'd rather the whole thing in its entirety went to someone who was going to look after it like I have. I rode it today and the bigger sprocket on the back makes it so much more well behaved in town its like night and day. Took a while to get her started until the penny dropped that the journey of a thousand miles starts with opening the fuel tap! I saw a 748R at new lands corner and it sounded glorious, and the thing that made me smile the most was that an old BSA from the thirties attracted more attention than any other bike up there. I seriously have to lose weight as well as I started to have to stuff myself into my fatboy contingency leathers.... So... I finally got the ratty old fucked raleigh mountain bike out and cycled for the first tim since I was 21. 3.4 miles and it took me 30 minutes!
Good luck with the sale. You reminded me that I need to work off this winter fat if I'm going to get back into my leathers for race season!
Sev, I've been watching your bike on ebay and I would dearly love to own it, but the timing's not quite right for me, I feel I need another year out of my 600 before I trade up, I've just put brand new tyres on it and I'm about to have a major service carried out, so it would be nice to get my money's worth for another 12 months before I move it on to a new owner, But good luck with the sale, it is an absolute cracker of a bike.
