Original Chain Life?

  1. Use a press link not a spring link. Its a 20 min jon for dealer tops

  2. Original Chain Life? - Regina or DID?

Multi comes with either Regina or DID chains.

I wonder what brand was the chains that broke?
Mine has a DID (50ZVZ) chain. With 23K (km), the chain needed adjustment two or three times in the first 4-5k.
I have now over 18k without any adjustment, and i ride it pretty hard.
Last week i took of the front sprocket cover and inspect. The front sprocket seems it has a little wear,
the rear is like new and the chain is in good condition. But i don't want to risk so i bought new sprockets and chain (esjot 42T rear and 15T front) and a DID 530zvmx.

    stock with 23K

and the new ones. Haven't find time to fitted yet, maybe next week.

  3. That's the chain I used, 'cept I fitted the gold one, for bling!

  4. These things make me smile every time I see them, good job it's a "professional motorcycle chain" and not an unskilled chain that doesn't have any qualifications and not had any training thats blagged itself into the box.

  5. Just for future reference on mileage from a chain, I managed to do the 960 mile Amsterdam trip without incident (regarding the bike anyway!), but at 19,000 miles, the OE fitment is now well and truly shagged, is beyond adjustment due to the tight spot, bangs like someone hitting your swing arm with a hammer around town and has put the tell tale red corrosion dust all over the back end of the bike - new set to be ordered today.

Not bad for a torquey, 1200 twin I think?

  6. I replaced my OEM 525 on my 1198 at 11k. After looking at it I reckon I couldve got 15-18k out of it. It wasnt as bad as I had thought. Both sprockets were fine for a few more miles and the chain measured within limits. I used to regularly clean with paraffin and I lube often. Usually during a clean.

  8. Picked my bike (11 plate Sport T) up after 22500 mile service & new clocks and was told that the chain was adjusted for solo no luggage. If I wanted to plonk pillion and luggage on I was advised to slacken the chain!! Anyone else been told this please? Confused now.

  9. That sounds like BS to me. Set it up as per the book.

  10. That's what i thought. Will read manual again to see if i've missed something. The suspension rises/firms up when 2 up with lugage is selected but then is compressed when me&her get on with 30 kg of make up and flip flops! So I presume the chain tension would stay roughly the same?

  11. You are supposed to set the electronic suspension to Urban/Solo Rider to adjust the chain. You don't then have to alter the chain tension to then flick through the various modes? I would suggest they were either a) taking the p155 or b) don't know what they are on about?

  12. nsm3 I set the e/suspension as you say and don't see in the manual where it says you have to adjust the chain for extra weight!!

  13. It won't say that, because you don't have to. Perhaps the dealer was just confused?
