As everyone else has said suspension set up is key, I have new spring for weight, ride height adjuster and lowered the front and it handles very well for the road. I've done carbon mirror covers as I think the standard black plastic look cheap, and a carbon front mudguard as I like the black theme, other than that no more carbon trinkets. The oem Termi package for the noise and I want to get a 14th tooth sprocket to improve the low speed riding, then that's it pretty much. Lighter wheels would be a nice upgrade.............
Fair play FMonky.... I got the suspension set up and its a different bike lately. New rubber too ( bridgestone T30's ). I think the wheels would be nice, pricey but would make a bif difference. Carbon add ons are a must. Been stupid busy with wk lately so only been riding the bike..
I will give those lads a shout. My suspension was set up for Monza (!) where the bike spent its entire life before I bought it. As you can imagine, the set up does not work well around Kildare and Laois! Re modifications, watch out if the key guard is replaced with a carbon one. Apparently, the carbon ones can effect the signal from the key to the sender ring around the ignition barrel. I had problems intermittently and may put the original key guard back on. I will be replacing the 15 tooth front sprocket for a 14 tooth one. Cheap mod and big difference I believe G
This is like a disease isn't it? In my initial post on here I wasn't going to do much, bought the bike blind because I wanted Termignoni's & the one up in Newcastle upon Tyne had them plus it was in my preferred colour (Black) I'd promised faithfully that if I could have the bike I wouldn't cover this one in carbon fibre or spend much more money on it because it already had the exhausts... ...anyway, it quickly gained a DP paddock stand & seat cowl, then a superpole seat, now it's got a DP carbon exhaust cover (to balance the hugger, honest) & I've just acquired a DP tail pack to carry my iPad + bits & bobs to take the weight off my back. Still to come, DP key guard, ride height adjuster, suspension set up* (any recommendations for Gloucestershire area?) & having stuck proper Marchesini wheels on my old 916 I know what a difference they make, although I didn't realise that the 848 had a different back axle to the 1098/1198 until after I bought the bike/signed up here. *Another 90kg flyweight here who doesn't find the standard suspension to bad, although I bought the bike secondhand, haven't touched it & find it pretty good, maybe the original owner has already had something done. Certainly far better than a dealer that I had a go on beforehand
I had my suspension set up by 100pcsuspension while at trackday at Silverstone and it completely transformed. Best money spent on bike so far although still looking for ideas of what else to change.
Just recently got my 1098, but had the dealer make following mods before picking it up, DP carbon rear hugger DP carbon open clutch cover DP pressure plate (anodised red) I've also applied VentureShield. Previous owner had added a tank guard. Not sure if they had made other changes previously, but it was otherwise stock when I bought it. Next up, DP(?) Carbon exhaust shield (that flank of black plastic needs swapping out) ...and I've now started pricing up Akrapovic slip-ons...
Half black fairing swapped for full fat red / home brew exhausts, straights with 3" dia internals / DP ECU (custom map in a couple of weeks) Ceramic coated exhaust system with valve removed & plated / BMC air filter / vent indicators... Nowt else planned really.... May go for a black swingarm at the end of the season...
* haris performance lever * double bubble screen * rizoma bar ends * rizoma rear set control kit * carbon tank protector - waiting for the termignoni full system - waiting for rizoma indicators gosh i love my machine
me too , but there is one minus point ... the rear break lever does not match to 848evo ... it hits the lower fairing panels ... spoken to dealer and they confirmed never installed on evo before, therefore beware .... despite I do not have a rear break i havent changed it back to standard yet looking for the solution to it
Right, list of mods first, pictures to follow... Ducati 848 Dark ('10) Zero Gravity Corsa light smoke screen DP carbon keycover DP carbon passenger seat replacement DP seat Unknown carbon hugger Unknown carbon heal plates Unknown carbon exhaust heat shield Pazzo brake and clutch levers Termignoni carbon slip-on silencers with DP ECU and air filter CNC black frame caps Dunlop SportSmart2 tires Next mod will be a decent suspension chek and set-up at HK Suspension.
got it from rizoma , through Moore Speed Racing... been dealing directly with rizoma who confirmed they never fit those on 848 evo ( dont know why they have 848 2010 - 2014 mentioned on web ...)
