Hello everyone, just retired from an R1 and decided that a Ducati was next on my list, so after 3 months of hunting and saving, I found a yellow Ducati 748 (W2000) with 13,500 miles on the clock, I managed to get this bike for a bargain because it needs tidying up and it's belts are due, thought about doing the belts myself but after working 10 hours a day on subarus and evos I decided to let the pros do it at shirlaws, so it's booked in next Tuesday for belts valve clearances and an mot, I can see my savings disappear as I type, thanks...
Hi m8, I'm sure if you can do the belt on a impreza, then I'm sure the 748 would have been simple for you. I did the one on the Subaru and I'm sure you need to be an octopus or have help.
Yeh I agree, iv been doing subarus on and off for 12 years now so I'm used to doing it with spanners and mole grips, I did think about doing it myself but I got the bike dirt cheap cause it has very little servic history so because iv never done it before and I think it would benefit me and the bike to let the pros do it, I watched it on YouTube and it looks a fair job, I work on subarus and evos day in day out, I'll be happy to let Shirlaws do it, even if they are pricey.
I'm sure you'll love the handling on the 748 when you get out on it, obviously dropping massive amounts of power from the R1, but it will still make you grin like a Cheshire cat.
I was looking at the drop in cc but to be honest I preferred the R1 because of the riding position, when I sat on the Ducati it felt comfy I was nice low and tucked in, so im looking forward to getting her on a track or a nice bit of road and throwing it about.
