hi i have a ducati 2002 750 sport but i have no neutral light the bulb is ok and the plug is plugged in,the light did work befor ei took it off the road for winter maintenace i am also after a seal kit for the rear caliper if you can even get them? any help is much apreciated many thanks Zak
Sounds like you need to have a look at the neutral switch and wiring at the rear of the gearbox, assuming that no fuses have gone etc. For the seal kit, try Jim Aim Racing in Sible Hedingham............they are KTM dealers and have a large stock of service kits for Brembo calipers, many of which are the same as fitted to Ducatis.
i have checked all the fuses and these are all ok,am i required to take any covers off to get to the switch? i will try Jim Aim many thanks
As far as I am aware (mine is an earlier carbed SS) the neutral switch should at the rear upper right side of the gearbox. It should have rubber cover over it which you can possibly slide back and then you should be able to spanner the switch out......there may be washers on it which act as adjustment, so don't lose them. Disconnect the switch wire from the loom before you undo the switch....the connector is probably within say, 200 - 300mm along the switch wire.
If the above works don't remove the switch, turn it out half a turn and then re-connect the cable and try again, as the switch is adjusted with different size washers this will tell you whether it needs a thicker or thinner shim. Steve
As an added test the earth for the neutrral light is also the earth for the high beam light , low fuel light , and sidelight warnings if these are all working then the test you need to do is before the connector block in the neutral wiring. It should be a black wire. the wire to the neutral light on the dash is yellow with green tracers.
Please check this before doing anything in my previous post does the neutral switch have one or two wires going to it if it has one do the tests above if it has two DO NOT TOUCH ANY WIRE TO ANY EARTH POINT AT ALL IT WILL BLOW FUSES if it has two wires connected to it post on forum and we can do a different test to check it out
The wires fell off the neutral switch on my 916, time & corrosion did it. I resoldered them and been fine since but the switches can also play up.
