If it takes a month, then its sitting at the PO whilst they get round to sending you a customs charge and if at the UK end they use Parcelforce expect a £12 handling fee too. Robbing gits. Although chances are it will be okay. Just buy a proper socket. Its easier and it'll be there next day or day after.
It is a proper socket and works very well on both front and back wheels. It has the advantage that it is easily carried in the bike's tool tray below the seat, so if you are touring and get caught out with a puncture at least you know you're going to be able to get the back wheel off. It came by post and there was no duty nor handling fee, but then I may have been lucky, and I wasn't in a desperate hurry at the time although it did come quite quickly in under a fortnight as I recall.
Yup I did the same. Bought mine from the US but a different company, stainless steel precision made but I paid more ! Oops. However it does the job and as I fit my own tyres I needed to be able to take the wheels off easily. Just bought a 1000mm 1/2 inch Draper breaker bar £30. Should do the trick
From my very recent experience the Oberon sockets are absolutely useless. Like many others have said here they are quite simply NOT up to the task. I bought a standard 1/2" square drive 55mm hex socket + 750mm long breaker bar to deal with this and have left the Oberon junk behind. This works for me, but I'll also be taking the socket with me wherever I go, because 230Nm takes some shifting, and............:Banghead:
Arrived last week Thursday. Really quick in the end. Not used it yet will get round to it later this week. Feels sturdy!
So Machine Mart will be your friend but won't be of any use if you need a socket to get your wheel off.
Jangol, the above pic IS a 12 point (Bi-Hex) socket Drinky is pointing out some of the items listed by Cranker are possibly not suitable (I've not checked whats listed, so not sure).
As Jango says, the Machine Mart links go to normal 6 sided sockets, you have the correct 12 point socket.
I got one of these STAINLESS STEEL DUCATI MULTISTRADA 1200 FRONT REAR WHEEL SOCKET NUT TOOL 55/30MM | eBay I wanted a stainless steel one so the centre wouldn't rip out. I keep it under my rear seat with the Ducati tool / puncture kit. I used a normal 1/2" ratchet to undo my wheel nuts, all this crap about scaffold bar is a waste of time. I just poured boiling water from a kettle on the nut before I attempted to undo it, then I let it cool and tightened the nut up with said ratchet to a toque of 2 grunts and a squeak. not at least I know if I'm away from home I have a good chance of getting it off with a normal ratchet if needs be.
I got my stainless one in the UK. Works fine with a windy gun also. Ducati Streetfighter Diavel Front & Rear Wheel Nut TOOL | eBay
Well jc not sure about the 2 grunts but I too got this stainless steel socket. Expensive but it does the job with no damage to bike or me. Then bought a Halfords Pro 300nm torque wrench to do it up to the correct torque. To undo got myself a 1/2 in 1000mm breaker bar. Every 1000 miles I undo the wheel nut, grease with ACF block grease and retighten. Job done.
Rear socket worked a treat. Front socket was useless as my front spindle has a black plastic cover @ either end of it, so need a long 30m socket to whip it off, the tool didn't have enough depth to fit over the spindle.
Mine arrived yesterday. No import duty to pay either. Result. Proper piece of kit, very well machined and bloody heavy!
Just brought these hopefully they are right sizes for £38 inc delivery. from powertoolworld.co.uk just hope i have got it right!
Jangol, sounds like you have spindle crash bungs in the front. Just remove them and the socket should work.
I'm told by my dealer that the rear wheel nut on my new 2015 Multistrada has to be torqued to 270 Nm. That's huge, and beyond the 230Nm that the alloy tools are rated to.
