Thats crazy carry on, not like its some 2 bit back street bike. Does no good for the bike either, would turn ppl off.
Hi just a update on this, still no bike however had the opportunity to go to Ducati Wolverhampton and spoke to Toni today. We split our differences and had a civilised conversation about where we are at with the bike. He was sympathetic to the issue and did show empathy to the situation and myself understanding the situation a bit more it appears to be somewhat of a Ducati issue in regards to work loads under warranty. I really hope this doesn't happen to any other 1199 owners as it a crying shame to see the bike in so many pieces just for a lack of sealant on a crankcase on production. I have been further discussing this with Ducati UK and they have been helpful to. The only issue is I still have no bike and it has put things in a new perspective as can I live with out one as I have had motorbikes since 15 years old and I am now 42 :Wtf: !. From this experience now is probably but will have to see:Watching:. Will keep you posted and hopefully Ducati Wolverhampton can offer something to help ease the pain of no bike on these sunny days :Hurting:
I would imagine that they could lend you a bike while yours is being fixed. Glad to hear that it's being sorted
wot he said If its covered and can't be sorted because of their delays surely you should get a demo or something
Not sure they could lend a demo for that long as that not the purpose of them. Hopefully she will be back next week and the nightmare sorted. Does feel like just throwing money down the drain with Tax and Insurance for it to be sat in my garage or workshop. I am hopeful it is all sorted and that there will be no further issues but I am very optimistic. Not sure what others feel about the 1199 but my experience of 10 months of ownership has not been the best so far !
I'm guessing insurance will be the problem with lending a demo long term. I was asking for an extending test ride six hours and was told insurance only valid for a couple of hrs? But if it was a deal breaker they would check with the insurance company.?
I guess they may have insurance like that but I doubt it. I was offered a test for a whole weekend by Ducati Manchester (pick up first thing on Saturday morning and drop off Monday morning)
Extended demo should be possible. Snells are lending me a demo bike for this weekend (UKMOC Weekender) as they discovered the belt tensioning roller bearings on my 696 had disintegrated when they had my bike for a service on Wednesday, and they couldn't get and fit the new parts for today.
Feel and share your pain - the Pani after 1 years ownership has been the most unreliable bike I have ever had in 25 years of riding. Such a shame I waited and lusted after a Ducati since the 916 days and eventually get one and am hamstrung with this unreliable rubbish I asked the dealers whether they sell em with a free lighter to torch the bugger!! when it breaks down again
i would of thought if the bike is V.O.R due to parts unavailability or other during the warranty period they would be duty bound to offer a replacement. certainly was during my fiat days.
Ha ! That's good to know. Julian from moto Rapido explained the limit of two hrs to me, But I'm a first time customer ...
