Snatchy/missing St4s...

  1. my new to me st4s is snatchy on a steady throttle even at 70+cruising you can feel it misfire, its had new plugs, pipercross filter, new belts, new fuel filter, cleaned the tank out of any crud, oil and filter changed, redex added, chain tensioned correctly and its still horrid up to about 4k revs anything else to look at?

  2. No it's not, how do you do that then? It's my understanding that the 2001ecu can't be tweaked? Is a tps something I could do myself?

  3. Ferk that....... Reckon I'll drop it off to a mechanic rather than mess things up!

  4. I had a similar problem, but it seemed to be at low revs. It was that the RPM pickup sensor was incorrectly shimmed.
It has to be shimmed down to a very tight tolerance, otherwise it feeds bad RPM signals to the ECU.

I had mine sorted and it made a very significant difference to 30mph cruising in town with no hunting or snatchiness. But the issue was not detectable at anything like motorway speeds. It took an experienced Ducati mechanic about 20 minutes to sort. For the price, I'd say get that checked at the very least and go from there.
