999 Stunning Colour

  1. yes...then no...initially its striking but don't think I could live with a YELLOW motorbike..sorry

  2. It'd been up for a couple of months. Didn't sell at £4300 and got re listed at £4100. I thought about it but got a red one instead. It's going to go for somewhere south of £4k. Yellow is a difficult one, looks like there are plenty of people about with the same view as thespionkop and I'm in the same boat.

  3. Don't normally come onto here as I don't have a 999 but I was once stupid enough to own a yellow car.

Thing that got me was the dammed thing was a bloody insect magnet and I'm sure it was the color.

For that reason only I'd never get a yellow bike, I spend long enough cleaning out carcasses of goodness knows what out of very strange places after a run out. Last thing I'd want to do is encourage the little buggers

  4. It only has the corse badge on one side of the fairings, are they all like that?

  5. You could be right there jock my son wears his Rossi, yellow, t-shirt and he has a lot of attention from the insects.

Didn't spot that ronin but did notice the bike shop tried to blot out there phone number in the first photo but not in the second one,

Don't see many yellow ducati's about, wait a few more years and they will be sort after :)

  6. Quote from an insect research site.

"Yellow traps are widely used to monitor and control pests. Many insects are attracted to yellow but lack red receptors".

So it looks like Red is a better colour to stay inconspicuous to insects.

  7. That would explain the horrified expressions of the insects plastered on the front of my (red) bike.
They obviously can't see me coming, but the last thing they hear must be the death rattle of a Ducati dry clutch!

  8. If an insect has enough time to intentionaly fly towards your yellow bike on the road to suffer an instant death you're doing something wrong lol... With most of you guys though, did once hanker over a yellow 748 but not sure I'd want to live with that day to day now.

  9. It's true, yellow sucks insects like crazy! I was doing a trackday last year and went to the morning briefing in my bright yellow Ducati Club Sweden T-Shirt and I had to run back to the car and change as I was totally covered in minutes!!

I love the yellow 999's though but it will cost you on resale to get one. Most people want a red Ducati and nothing else.

Next time I paint my 999 track bike I will paint it ORANGE, BLUE og YELLOW just to f*ck with people!

  10. OOOh do like the Yello (obviously I'm in the minority)

I've had 3 yellow bikes and all the insects kept away - no problem at all....mind you I did have a plastic spider on my keyring :upyeah:

  11. That's funny I get loads of insects on mine.....mainly splatted on the front fairing and screen:D.....

As for the colour, the way I see it everyone's got a red Ducati ,they all look good no matter what the colour really, but i've only ever seen 1 other yellow 999S in the metal, that tells me something.......

  12. Did you notice one of the other bikes shown on the same eBay page ????

    Yellow 749r ???

    It's a base model, early 749 BP.

Are they that stupid they don't know what bike they have? Are they trying to miss sell it ? Genuine error ?

  13. Difficult to tell what some of these people are thinking....advertised as an R but shows a pic of the top yoke without a numbered plaque!,something all R's have....not sure whether they even did the 749R in yellow,i thought they were all red?...someone might prove me wrong.

  14. I like that also,
I think as long as you don't wear yellow leathers your good to go, could yellow be the new red;)
