Does anybody have any recommendations for a good do it all track tyre? I only have one set of wheels and I can’t be arsed to swap tyres over at the track, I know it’s always a compromise but looking for something half reasonable in the wet/dry, and something that wont over heat if the sun does come out. I’m probable asking too much I know.
Didn’t think so. I’ll just stick with supercorsa’s and try my luck should be entertaining if nothing else.
Racetec interacts are better but are a lot more expensive or Michelin power pure are the newish replacement for the 2ct and are ment to be good in the wet or dry but nothing like a slick or full wet
I wouldn't hesitate to do track days with 2CT or Pure, but them I'm not Casey Stoner. On my track days I didn't find my (road) tyres to be the limiting factor and I like 2CTs on mountain passes in the wet.
Dunlop Sportsmart. Road tyres are perfectly capable on track until you start to push them hard and ask more from them. Then they can let go with no warning.
just speant yesterday at a very wet snetterton on pilot pures and while i was more cautious in the wet i didnt feel them slip once i know they are great in the dry i no racer nor do i hang about
weird cos i just put on pures after 3cts,and the pure are alot lighter, giving a much more nuetral feel, turn is is quicker and sharper, but i do feel them slide around, they need a warm up too,and defo will slide the rear around in bends much more than the 3cts,but generally give a much sportier ride.you gotta concentrate more with them.
Doing my first trackday on Monday night on a set of Michelin Pilot Road 3's on a Multistrada 1000. As I have no prior track experience nor am I an especially hard rider I am hoping these will be OK, but will report back.
dunlop d211 ntecs..i race with them on my R6 then fit them to my 748 when theyve done the job ...superb tyres ! ..they really are!
disagree wi ye there buddy..i run my 748 in all weathers...they really are an all weather tyre. where did you find you were having a problem when you were running your d211's on your road bike?
To be fair I ran NTEC slicks when I raced (R1) not treaded versions, but to be fair even those in he damp were "ok" I still think racing in DD on stock diablos showed me how versatile that tyre was rain or shine albeit will 60 something HP
