748 Biposto To Monoposto Conversion Help

  1. Hi, as above I'm after some advice on my conversion, I have read (I think) of the posts on this subject and I'm still coming up blank, what would be massively helpful is pictures of how people have mounted the light unit and seat lock to the actual seat unit,
    I don't want to purchase the mono subframe, also is the rear light unit different from the biposto one, thanks guys

  2. I think it may depend on the seat unit.I have an aftermarket one and all of the gubbins bolted straight on and it fitted honky dory.

  3. On mine there's nothing to bolt the light and lock unit on to, I tried for a few hours today and come up blank, I think I need pictures of other people's, as the ones I've seen up until now haven't helped me

  4. Assuming a Ducati seat (aftermarket could be different) then the rear light is the same, the only difference is the mounting bracket for the seat latch which needs to be offset to reach the latch on the subframe which is lower on the biposto frame (due to the pillion seat thickness).

    You can either get the offset bracket or use spacers under the flat one.

    Here's an aftermarket bracket that will do the job; DUCATI Rear Tail Light Bracket Seat 748 916 996 998 | eBay

    And here are the OEM brackets both types,

    and;

    Here's a pic of a mono seat with bracket to fit a biposto subframe;

  5. Hi, thanks for the advice, I've managed to get some spacers to raise or lower the seat latch, what I seem to be struggling with is away of fixing the light unit to the seat unit, probably a really simple fix, the plastic is too thin to screw on to, I've tried using silicone,

  6. See the pic above the light clips onto the bracket and then there is a rubber buffer that 'wedges' between it and the seat unit - no screws.

  7. Don't buy the one I linked too, because they're cheaper new; Part no. 866.1.018.1A showing as $2.99 on Ducati Omaha on-line store - even allowing for UK 'inflation', 1:1 pounds to dollars that we normally get + VAT etc. I reckon it'd be no more than a fiver. :upyeah:

  8. The seat latch and light bracket should bolt onto the monoposto seat unit. Mine had 'nuts' already moulded into the fibreglass of the seat unit.

  9. Yeah nothing like that on mine, maybe the Chinese don't use rear lights, I light see if I can maybe find a fabricator to help me.

  10. You require 4 spacers to provide a fixing point to the seat for the bracket to fit on. I have posted on this in the past so a search should provide what you want. I have done numerous conversions for these seats and have supplied machined spacers in the past for seat plates and also for the locking plate.
