996 Hub Trashed By Cush Drive

  1. I fitted a Renthal sprocket Carrier to my 748 when I had it for this very reason although at the time people were saying that the M+P carrier will fit with Renthal sprockets. I didn't have the failure but my mate has just had it happen on his where the Rubber split from around the bush and the allow pushed out onto the Swingarm.

there is a modified standard Ducati Sprocket though isn't there? I suppose if you have to replace the cush drives anyway then you are stuffed.

  2. I think the M&P one is made by JT Sprockets, which I have also used with Renthal.

  3. Hi Nelson im going there for long term work but have to pass interviews etc first so if I don't get back to you in 4 weeks ive passed and will be staying there.I will just stick it all on ebay for now as a job lot and collection and leave it with the old man if anyone is interested.

  4. Shame...:(
All the best with the interviews.:upyeah:

  5. Cheers its gonna be a tough selection for sure.

If you can get to the midlands with your tools I will leave the complete kit with my old man and you can just take the shock.Pm me if you want to do this and we will sort out a price. If not no worries and keep your eyes peeled on fleabay as showa shocks come up quite regularly.

  6. Where in the Midlands?
    Beyond the Watford hinterlands? :Woot:

  7. OP here. Been offline for a bit. Def interested in andyb's hub for 50. I pass silverstone regularly so will sort something out with you. Just replaced cush drives so ready for MOT. hub is just about adjustable but worth replacing for £50 if thats OK still.

  8. Update, replaced the cush drive bushes. Centre punched the sprocket carrier a bit to provide a stop for any recurrent movement though its not likely to happen with the mileage I do. In hindsight it probably would have been OK to re-use the old ones.
Cleaned up swarf, greased and put back together. The adjuster is still just about usable but in contact with Andyb about his spare swingarm. Thanks for your help guys. :upyeah:

    aside,
I'm amazed how hard wearing the rear sprocket is, with 25K on the clock it can't possibly be the original, not sure but think it was fitted along with (Regina 525 Z-ring) chain around 14K by previous owner. It is alloy and hardly a mark on it so I didn't bother replacing when I did the chain again at 23K (which had corroded quite badly) .

  9. Good news, back on the road at least :upyeah:

  10. Nelson, do you want an old showa shock?
