  1. 2010 MTS1200S, 30K Miles, Leo Vince / decat and CJS tuned.
Lardy 100Kg+++ shortarse in leathers (i hope you're not eating) and pikes peak screen.
Fulll to brim tank (97RON) to vapours in 1 hour 10 minutes (flashing ZERO MILES) 104 miles.
Sustained MPG 18.2 under full acceleration, top twenties at other times.
If held at a steady 50MPH (GPS, not the 53-54 indicated on the speedo) then top fifties (60.3 on the flat).

So to answer the question you should be somewhere between that.

  2. Interesting stats.........did you mean to add this as a post to an existing thread somewhere? (...."So to answer the question....."

Keep regular and accurate mpg stats if you're so inclined:
    fuelly.com

    ....mine:
Multistrada 1200S Sport (Ducati Multistrada 1200S) | Fuelly

    Best 50.3mpg
    Worst 31.1mpg
    Average 42.6mpg

Actual mpg's from fuel quantity vs miles........the COMS.M figs from the trip computer make better reading (i.e. optimistic!) always!

Full Termi, MWR air filter.........yet to see Chris, one day maybe!

  3. well id like to say BP Ultimate seems to give me the best mpg and seems to make the bike go brilliantly but Shell VPower it deosnt seem to like that much and i don't get increased mpg. Go figure !all back of a fag packet but through choice i use BP Ultimate. Over 2500 miles the average real mpg was 47.9mpg on premium petrol , but what blew me away was the monster 1100 evo with us was doing 56mpg over same distance all real from brim to brim

  4. interesting figures.

I used to ride an ST4S (996 engine) and that returned pretty much 10 miles to the litre (45mpg) regardless.
My 2010 MTS with standard exhaust would give 38 to 42mpg most of the time (8.5 to 9.3 miles to litre).
This meant that a 130 mile fill up would put in roughly 15 litres, and be nowhere near the fuel light being on, and still showing 40 to 50 miles left.
The bike would quite happily do a real world 170 miles to a tank.

Now I have a 2012 MTS with a Quad D cat bypass and DUC-EE EXV eleiminator.
This drinks juice like its going out of fashion !

Last week, we did a trip around France for 10 days, and these are some real world indiciations.
this is two up with luggage, riding a real mix of roads, from, 1st/2nd gear technical twisties, to 3 figure 5th gear sweeping roads.
worst fill up: 108 miles, 18.7 litres (26 mpg !!!)
best fill up: 140 miles, 17.5 litres (36mpg)
most of the rest: 120 to 130 miles, between18 and 19 litres (28.5 to 32.5mpg)

To me this is shocking. Its using at least 20% more than the last bike, and means in some cases 130 mile fill-ups get a bit tight.
Whereas my mate and I used to be roughly the same on fuel usage, I am now at least 3 litres more than him at each fill up.

I am now going to put the standard pipe back on to determine if its that which is making such a major contribution.

I appreciate a remap could possibly solve this, but I want a map that gives standard bike performance and economy.
I should add there were a bunch of MTS's with us, some solo, some twp up. Mine is by far the thirstiest.

  5. I easily achieve 48 mpg solo riding with full luggage on A roads.
Giving it the beans in the Alsace mountains which was all 2nd and 3rd gear twisties saw that plummet to 22mpg :upyeah:

  6. I must be doing something wrong or riding too slow..

120-30 miles light on, 165-180 before zero miles, 17.5l fill up

  7. Just done 189.9 miles from fill up to neck to 0 miles showing. Mix of motorway and A road and town sludge. Solo with all 3 boxes on with about 25kg in them. Tank still had a few miles of go juice left in it. Bike is standard Multi Sport T with 25,000 miles.

  8. I must have a good Multi GT as last week I got 210 miles on a tank putting in 18.7 litres from memory. But will say if I thrash it the warning light comes on around 135 miles then I usually take it easy & get at least 180 a tank

  9. Ok stupid question yeah yeah but what is the capacity of the tank? Actual fuel in not manual..

  10. The manual says 20L. I've managed to get 19L in after 192 miles and it wasn't empty - quite. The dash said I had 7 miles left and it was probably about right.

  11. I think the 20L includes the unusable air gap up around the filler neck.
I reckon 19litres usable, maybe 19.5 at a push, if you keep dribbling fuel in

  12. I have the new Skyhook Multi, im not getting that good MPG would it make a difference ??

  13. So worst i have put in is 17.8 with zero miles..good to know I had some left

  14. Yeah but you only use one wheel so its doesn't count ;)

  15. I usually Euro tour each year with a pal on an 06 Blade and at each fill up, he is spending consistently 10-15% less Euros at the pumps than me on my 10 Mutley.

  16. When I went to WDW12 my ST4s was consistently returning 65mpg. In Germany last year 50mpg was the best the MTS could do. Mind you, it is 200cc bigger, 30bhp more powerful and a lot less aerodynamic.

  17. the multi is a big heavy bike, with aerodynamic challenges and that stays higher in the power for longer when touring with a sports bike. Of course it uses more fuel

  18. I think it makes a huge difference in fuel usage in how you ride it, I can get easy 200 mile out of a tank when cruising down the motorway keeping it to 80 odd and riding it around with out trashing it, ride it a bit harder though and it drops like a stone :(
