Hi,any idea without resorting to getting the part chromed,which I'm not sure is even possible,where can I get a chromed exhaust downpipe cover thingy thats on my 998?.It's the bit that's bolted onto the 2 downpipes using 2x chromed alen key type headed bolts.It's not the same part as those on the 916,although I'm not sure if it's the same as the one on the 996.Thanks
It is a heat shield, eBay is a good bet, there are certainly plenty of carbon ones on there unless you want the original silver one specifically.
Aah,yes of course! a heat shield.No I'm not that keen on carbon fibre add ons,probably my age,I prefer something with a shine like finish.Anyway,did have a quick look on E bay but nothing leaping out at me,although the chromed back wheel+rear sub frames both looked amazing!Thanks
BTW - there's no "chrome" parts - the items you refer to (heat shield and subframe) are bare stainless and anodised aluminium respectively.
You could get the heat shield powder coated in that case, a simple enough job and there should be at least a RAL colour that would come close to the original.
