2007 695 Monster Hid Kit Problem

  1. Hi all,

I just installed H4 HID kit on my monster and for some reason only the high beam is on and the HID bulb does not light up. When I switch it to the high beam the high beam bulb turns off and the HID bulb is still off.

It should be a straightforward plug and play. Any ideas ??

  2. Without knowing how you've wired it - no idea, although possibly the dip and main connections could be reversed. It also sounds like you've got one of those nasty ones with a halogen main beam piggy backed onto the HID unit. The bi-xenon H4 HID is the way to go.

  3. HID are polarity sensitive, I remember doing an H4 on a Guzzi yonks back and it gave me fits. You need to make sure the setup is correct for pos or neg switching i.e. is the switch that makes the circuit on the positive side (between battery and bulb) or negative (between bulb and earth). Some kits come with a polarity switch to reverse it.

As I remember (and I'm a bit vague on it) there will be 3 wires one for Hi one for Lo and a common. Depending on the setup the common may need to be connected to the neg side or the pos side and the individual wires to the the other.

Find out the switch config and contact the seller about it. If its an all or bust affair then you could try reversing the connections, in other words put the common on the other side but I'm not guaranteeing that it wouldn't damage anything, it didn't with mine it just didn't work at first.

  4. Broken HID bulb?

  5. It looks like the bulb is wired backwards. The ballasts works fine on my other H4 HID bulbs already connected to my other bike

The bulb looks like its wired ok. The high beam wire and the low beam HID wire are in the correct slots.

  7. What sort of HID type is it? The kit I had for H4 was a single HID bulb, with a shield operated by a solenoid so the HID stayed lit the whole time when it was configured correctly. With mine I cannot remember all the details but one beam operated the other went out.

When I spoke to the seller he told me to reverse polarity and use a switch that was wired into the kit for polarity reversal. Did that and it worked fine. Without knowing the set up, the kit itself and a wiring diagram, there isn't much more I can help you with.

  8. It's a dual bulb. I removed the pins from the connector and tried different setup configurations and it still wouldn't work. Could be a faulty bulb.

  9. It was a defective bulb. All good now
