Just a quick post, I,m picking up my bike this week, I will probably get the termi carbon can in a couple of months, can I just put it on or will it bugger up the fuelling etc! Anyone put one on themselves? cheers andy
Just the can wont make any difference to anything other than cosmetic, it's just a very expensive tube, love mine though!
Brilliant! Thanks for that, just what I wanted to know! Love the look, not really bothered with noise etc, done all that many times before, it's sad I know, but I,m vain!
Does anyone have just the termi slip on on their MTS? (I.e. With the stock cat, not a decat). Does it sound any different to stock? I know the cat does most of the baffling but think I've sourced a stubby only and wondering if it's worth it?
Rubbish. I spoke to Chris in the end and he warned me away from the SC Project. Am I right in thinking the stubby has no baffle either so if paired with a decat would be ear-bleedingly loud?
I have the Termi slip-on, I have a twin spark 2013 bike. I have had the the standard under slung exhaust box cut open and the cat taken out and re-welded back together, also removed the exhaust flap but kept the spindle and cable set up so I don't have any exvl errors. Bike runs absolutely spot on, I think the fuelling is better than stock, very smooth and has a nice not loud at all but louder deep tone to it. No fatducs or anything fitted. I purchased a second exhaust system, the mods cost me £96 not including the slip-on but the twin tips sound exactly the same.
I meant rubbish that it makes no difference but costs >£600! He didn't rate the build quality nor the design of the decat pipe. He reckoned they lose power over stock. Only rated the termi, leo vince and akra Guess there's a reason they're cheaper, shame as I really like the design of it
I see.....yes! SC Project system - interesting, more and more systems for the MTS1200 but a gamble on the quality and performance front........Chris's advice has to be worth taking account of, he must have seen umpteen different exhaust systems and decat/end can combinations.
I'm sorry but I think people have to take stock of the real world stuff chris maps bikes and possibly very well, but not necessarily better than plenty of others around the globe , I'm not slating him at all, merely putting a perspective on things chris is likely talking about gas flow in regards to decat pipe design and whilst that does make a difference I'm not convinced on a Multistrada 1200 it's really that much of a major concern
Presumably any comments Chris makes are based on actual dyno results, pre-tuning i.e. what anyone would achieve by just 'bolting' on whatever system/setup, together with what can be achieved after he has worked his magic. It's not just a question of out and out max power figures but effects on low / mid-range torque etc. So whilst the difference between most systems wouldn't be that noticeable by most of us would anyone spend their hard earned on a system that was actually less 'efficient' than stock when there are alternatives?! .....and then there's his opinions on quality of build - considering that on one bike or another he must have seen systems from every manufacturer out there I for one would take his comments on finish/quality into account if looking to buy.
Yes I do get that, but discounting a system entirety based on comments from someone who bases opinion on perfect mapping isn't necessarily the way to go is all I'm saying. Especially if the bike you're buying for isn't a race bike and not really ever pushed to the edge by the vast majority of owners I mean if I had £1 for every person that's commented on the poor quality of the termi systems for the last 3-4 years I'd be able to buy a new bike, but because Chris gets good mapping results then that's not taken into account All I'm saying is that after market exhausts cover a wide range of services, most if not the majority on the multistrada are predominantly aesthetic first, maximum engine performance last, we don't have pikes peak runners here Just because an exhaust doesn't map quite as well as another by one specific tuner doesn't mean that you should discount other systems entirely
I have a Termi Carbon Stubby on my 2012 Multi, and have ridden a few times few times with a friend who has a 2010 model in standard trim. The Termi does sound different, no louder, but as our mutual pillion phrased it after back to back rides "it sounds meatier". I am finding the more miles it does the better its sounding..
I am using an SC exhaust and was warned off them, glad I made my own mind up. The build quality and welding is superb, the headers are equal length and with the correct tune, they make more power and torque right across the range. If you choose to run with the baffle out they are quite noisy but not offensive as it is a deep sound. The tune I had was done by somebody who tunes super bikes and was done with a dyno and sensors to ensure it was right. It wast mapped per cylinder in each gear for both ignition and fuel. It goes like a rocket and is much smoother at the low end. 30 in third is smooth and pulls cleanly to the red line.
