  1. hi forum, its great to share camaraderie and love for bikes. I'm interested to get a new bike. I've always driven hondas's but, its time for something new. i went to my local dealer and fell in love with the diavel. i guess who wouldn't. its a bit high for me rite now so, I'm shopping used. i found to bikes and was hoping for some input. the 2 i was looking at was a 2005 s4r monster with 14,000 miles and also a 2009 monster 1100s. ill be honest ducati has a ton of models and am trying to figure what would be the better of two and what would be the pros and con's to either. any input would be greatly apptreciaded.

  2. Hi and a warm welcome to you from the Sunny UK..

With regards to which bike ! They are all superb without question.. Really you need to decide what fits you and your lifestyle...with super bikes the issue for some is the pressure on the wrist bones and general comfort depending on your body build, and will you need to take a pillion.. ?

The monster range is truly great, if your out for sheer power, then yes, the S4S is ideal, but consider if the majority of your work is driving round town, the S2R would be the one I'd go for then. Wet clutches are so much lighter and makes for a more nimble bike..

I've had most of the range over the years, my fave would be my. 916 sps.. But now, many years on, I have a 796 Hyper, which for me is quick enough on motorways and extremely light and nimble around town..

I hope this helps you.. Don't hesgitate to ask more, it's what were here for..

    All the best

  3. Given the low speed limits in America, I'd go for the 1100 and stick a smaller front sprocket on just for the giggles.

  4. Morning Yankee Dave :)

  6. Morning and welcome to the forum

  7. Thanks Noods for the info. I greatly appreciate it. I actually live on Long Island. So what we call open roads are a couple if highways a 100 miles at there longest. Most the driving is back roads. I do like take rides out to montauk which is about an 1 1/2 ride and even in my cbr900 is pleasent.
The monster seems to be a logical choice being I'd like to get a Ducati. I'm a marine technician now but was a honda tech for 10 years.
I did a little reading up on wet/dry clutches and I guess wet would suit be better. Although, would a Ducati be the same not hearing the clutch. Just saying
Allot of Harley guys here. Go figure. When the vrod came the Harley's turned the noses knowing it was designed by porsche. They don't like those changes. What I'm getting do ducati enthusiasts respect models with the wet clutch or do they feel that's not what Ducati's are truly about?
What model monsters should I be looking for with a wet and produce a descent amount of power?
    Thanks guys

  8. hello and welcome to the forum

  9. wet clutch/dry clutch no preference other than dry are a doddle to maintain. ducati = proper v-twin :upyeah: harleys are okay as pumps or air compressors.

  10. True. I always ask the question "if Harley made a helicopter would u fly in it"
What wet clutch versions of the monsters do they make.

  11. Hi and welcome:), just go with the flow:upyeah:

  14. Harsh? Your metaphor makes no sense in this context either? :Wideyed:
