Just got back from a week in the Alps on the Multistrada and what a great week! Here is a very long unedited clip of a ride up to Champex la Lac shot from the back of the MTS 1200 VIDEO]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VDC2XePDzLI&feature=g-upl I was in a group of 10 bikes and the tour leader is on the Fazer 1000 behind. (he said he was short shifting and taking his time!)
I have returned from an alps trip myself and have to say my bike was king of the mountains, absolutly awesome. 100% reliable, 95% comfortable(with an airhawk on) but 1000% fun fun fun and the others in the group couldn't touch me.......... I wish i could say it was all me but we duke mts owners know the real truth cant wait to go back
Yep GoPro Got hours and hours of stuff, just time consuming to edit out all the crap and make something half decent.
Pretty much the same story here... Went to Alpine tour with my wife on may for 3 weeks, and what a bike & trip it was. Did the whole trip without any planning, so basically just packed and started driving = no plans to go wrong. Had so much fun, every day, no matter if we were changing the location (touring mode) or just having fun without the packages. The bike performs either way! And the roads, views... WAU! 6500km of pure fun... From Finland to: Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Austria, Italy and back again. I have to say, wife's KTM 990 SMT = a beast. If not the MTS 1200, then definitely KTM for this kind of riding. Despite the locals obvious affection for the BMW:s GS... Every second bike that came across was a GS. Few pics to color up the thread:
not on the one I bought, just use Windows Movie maker, or in the case of this just uploaded the whole clip
Great Roads [/IMG] Group photo [/IMG] [/IMG] Did about 20 miles of dirt tracks (we had 4 of those very rare bikes on tour with us....... GS,s) [/IMG] Just to prove a point to the GS lads!, everything worked after this but perhaps should have gone a bit slower [/IMG] A little off the track at the Col de l'Iseran one of the highest paved roads in Europe. 32C in the valley, cold here [/IMG]
Couple more photos: Heath on his Monster, which made the best sound in the group and fast through the twisties [/IMG] Italy Just in front [/IMG]
Threres even a ski ramp at the bottom right in case you didn't want to take the bend or if you simply wanted to take the quick way down
Bit long cos its un-edited but same trip this time heading up the Saint Bernard Pass from Switzerland to Italy
Congrats! I'm always amazed at the discipline people have to stop and take photos. Once I'm stuck into a col, I just can't bear to stop, unless at the top and even then... Consequently, despite riding them all every year for decades I have almost no photos. You get into a groove and stopping is a bit like taking a record off in mid-track (a heinous sin, if it's any good).
Richard H and Iforb, any chance we could see the routes you rode or even the name of the passes pictured, I have been to the Alps plenty but dont recognise the roads pictured, would love to ride them and am heading there in October. Cheers. Oh, and also the unpaved roads you went on, ta muchly.
