749 Tank Of Fuel

Discussion in '749 / 999' started by Red Baron, Aug 8, 2014.

  1. What are you getting out of yours? Mines always dry after a run.....:Arghh: (749s)

  2. Had a run up Blackpool via Lancaster (missed my junction on the M6) from Stoke and got 109 miles before the tank light came on, filled up before I came back and got 79 before the tank light came on. :Wacky: Came the same way back but without the Lancaster diversion lol... go figure!

  3. I thought I was going bonkers... I usualy do the A272 from Horsham to Loomies run which is about 70ish miles. Looking in the tank the wet stuff is nearly all gone!!!!! Just was wondering what everyone else was getting.

  4. On a fast ride my lights on after 7x miles but if I'm just wafting about it's close to 100 before the lights on, my mate has an 848 Evo which is pretty similar

  5. My bike was doing about 75-ish miles from full to fuel light. My mate said when following me he could almost taste the fuel being dumped out the back of my bike when I opened the throttle.
I had the bike dyno`d and they said it was running very, very rich. Now I get 100-120 miles from full to fuel light on, depending on how I ride. I think it takes about 13-ish litres to fill it up again.

  6. 15 litre tanks mate :)

  7. Recently went through 27 litres (6 gallons) in 130 miles....at Mallory

  8. Judging by what your saying I got nothing to worry about. Maybe just get used to using the other gears. Not just third....

  9. 130-ish miles from full to the brim tank to warning light...but I don't thrash the arse off mine all the time like you lads!;)

  10. I don't thrash it all the time... There is a time for sleep. That's not on the bike!

  11. to be fair mine gets thrashed 90% of the time

  12. How about this then. If you fill up when the fuel light comes on (and stays on), how many litres of fuel does it take to fill the tank?
In my case it`s usually 13-ish litres, that means there will be 2.5-ish litres left in the tank. I`m happy to do another 20 miles after the light is on but then I would be looking for a petrol station pretty damn sharpish.

  13. The other 10% filling with juice I hope!

  14. That I suppose was my main concern. What's left after the light come on!!! Who is wishing to volunteer to find out?

  15. I have done 15 miles on mine (749) with the light on but I've gotta be honest I was riding it like a nunn and was very happy to find a petrol station. Then managed to squeeze just over 13 litres in. Maybe I should've gone for another 5 miles to use the remaining litre and half up but wasn't that brave.

  16. I was out all last weekend and my mates kept telling me my rear end stank of petrol....I will have to get that checked out, thanks. :)

  17. Don`t worry, that`s an easy fix.
If it`s the bikes tailpipe that smell of fuel, I`d recommend getting it dyno`d.
If it`s your tailpipe that smells of fuel, then I`d recommend getting it dyno-rod`d. ;) :D

  18. Solution for short-ish range? Get hold of a 749R tank - they're bigger. 'Normal' use gives you 120 to 140 miles.

  19. Get about 75-80miles when spanking it on the road.
65 miles to light on a track.
It's not hugely thirsty just a small tank.
Mine has had an ECU remap by MotoRapido to match the full Storm system.
