No Longer Need A 999 / 749 Frame (got A 1098!) Wanted For 2v Superbike Project

Discussion in 'Wanted' started by andrewinuk, Aug 13, 2014.

  1. after having lots of fun on a 900ss track special it is time to start getting bits for my autumn / winter project.

i will be putting 1000ds engine internals (from a cracked case) into deep sump 999 case and my suzuki gxsr front end onto a 999 / 749 frame. i'll be making my own loom and fabricating lots of bits but am looking to get some key parts to have a rolling chassis.

so please get in touch if you have:
    • 999 / 749 frame (ideally with eccentric head stock)
    • rear brake complete set up with lever, disc, caliper etc
    • rear sets
    • rear shock linkage
    • rear wheel
    • fuel tank, ideally damaged / cheap so i can cut the sides off without remorse, to make it more like a 750 F1
    • possibly a black swing arm
    • possibly a 999 engine case....

not in a rush but if you have the parts lying around and want them to go to a good home.......

    cheers

    andrew

  3. you have PM, but just on the frame. i think that an exhaust that big may be overkill for a mildly worked 2v!

also realised is should have done my research on frame differences between the models but be good to talk.

  4. OK ideally looking for a UK frame with V5 so i can get a day time MOT without too much faffing about, so am still in the market!

  5. I have a set of rear sets if you're interested

  6. I have some 999 base model forks but you are already sorted with the front end?

  7. hey there, all sorted with the front end thanks!

already got GSXR forks on my 900SS that will be bolted on to the new bike. will be a simple swap over as i have the complete front end...... and with a new (but second quality) dymag wheel just ordered to suit, will be sticking with these for a while!

    so far i have:
    • 1098s frame + swing arm (Ohlins shock and link to be sold soon)
    • 848 hubs and spindle
    • GSXR k6/k7 600/750 complete front end incl calipers
    • 1100 multi case pistons and barrels
    • 1000 engine internals, injection system, ecu and heads
still need a rear 5.5 inch wheel, then i have all the main bits i need.

next steps are to sell my 900ss so i can afford to get my engine sorted with a crank balance etc before i bolt it together and most likely send it to CJS who seems the go-to-guy to get it tuned.

also going to try to build my own under engine exhaust and DIY carbon airbox and fuel tank/seat. a lot to do before May 2015!

i'll set up a thread in the projects section once i get going to ask a lot of questions :)

  8. I will soon have an 848 5.5" wheel spare. :)
    PM me if you;re interested?

    cheers

  9. could be.... looking for a light wheel and a cheap wheel for wets.... missed a 3 spoke for £30 a week or so ago..... so still looking!

    what do/will you have?

  10. Got this;
Cast 848 wheel. About as light as it gets for the small hub, unless you can hunt down a forged (rare for small hub) or mag.

  11. Have a v good tank n pump with cap/key

  12. ah, i'm after a fuel pump for an 1100 or 1000 (or one that pumps the same amount) but not the tank or cap..... going to make my own tank.

and i'll hold off on a cast wheel for the moment.... got my eye on a magnesium one, but slightly nervous given the horror stories!

  13. No probs.
Both for and aft will be for sale soon if any one is in the meerkat :Bag:

  14. Here is a pic or two of an air cooled in a 999 frame.

  15. That is so cool! I'd love to route an exhaust across the frame like that too..... But worried I'd bend it......though I only ever seem to crash on the other side.... :-/

    Awesome welds too.

One question though, the tank seems a long way forward, was that intentional for the riding position?
