Headlight Ajustment

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by PlymouthBikers, Dec 11, 2012.

  1. HI guys n Gals.
I need some advice and hope you can help.
Took my 2012 Multistrada out the weekend and noticed coming back through the dark country lanes the headlights are all wrong.

My Main beam is up in the trees, and my dipped is up high.

    QUESTION.
    Is this an easy adjustment?
Does any one know how do adjust the angle..?

    Look forward to any replies.

  2. Yes, it is easy adjusted! Look under your dash. There you will see two screws with a combo of 10mm hex and phillips in the middle. Further on you have to remove the black "dashboard" that goes around inside the headlight fearing (where the "glove box" and fuse box are). There you will find two more of this 10mm screws. With these four screws you can adjust your headlights:smile: Remember that all the 4 lights are mounted together, there are no induvidual adjustment of the lights.

This is also covered in your owner`s manual book that you got with your bike.

  3. Many thanks for reply. Seems not to hard ill give it a go.

  4. There is no need to remove anything. Page 166 Fig 185 in the Manual tells you how to do it. Once the correct screws have been identified, this is the hard part, it is easy. There are two screws for each headlight unit which are adjusted separately.

  5. Most Mutleys seem to come from the factory with the headlamps set far too high, so the owner has to adjust them. I guess setting the height is not part of the assemby procedure.

  7. John - I read your post re: Dual Dip/High Beam mod. You mention that there is an electronic component between the yellow/white and red wire. What is it? I've been looking for a way to do keep all 4 lamps on when in high beam mode for a while. I'm off on a trip 2nd week of August and would love to do this mod before I go.

    Many Thanks,
    Rick Hart

  8. It's a diode. Use something like a 1N4002 or similar. It goes between the Yellow/Grey wire of the main beam relay and the Yellow/White wire of the dip beam relay. Fit it with the end with the white line round it towards the Yellow/White wire.

  9. John - Thanks so much for the info. I figured it was a diode. I did get off on my trip, but didn't have time to do this mod. The bike is going in for it's 30K next week. I'll take a look at doin' this mod when I get it back. Until then, Thanks Again!!

  10. Hey guys I can't find in The manual how to adjust the headlight. I looked on page 166 and it's not there. I have a 2014 multi . Cheers for any help

  11. I have a 2012 model and the manual provides this info for adjustment:

Not sure if they have changed the adjustment process for the 2014 model but it would be worth taking a look at your bike and seeing if it's the same layout as above. If so, you have what you need. :upyeah:

  12. Be warned that the adjusters need a lot of turns to make a noticeable difference.

  13. ....2013/14 bikes are all sorted, not that I'm suggesting you swop your bike!

  14. That's exactly wat I need. How comes it's not in the 2014 manual. Provided the layout hasn't changed. Also vj60 do u mean the 2013/14 bikes are sorted in the sense the adjustment screws work better? If not then I guarantee the lights aren't sorted mine are too high. Cheers for all ur responses though and I will look to see if me bike is the same tomorrow.

  15. Hi Plymouth Biker.

I have the 2013 gt model and the lights point where they should with no need to adjust! I've had the 2010 model and yes the lights were awful!
I will be at Plymouth bike night on Thursday the 4th sept on my gt. Kind Regards Vince.

  16. Mine are adjusted to fully down and I still get the occasional flash from oncoming traffic, especially when two up.

  17. Here's the pages from my 2013 model.

  18. I have the 2014 S GT and when I put the high beam on all the lights stay on, I'm guessing they sorted this to.

  19. When I bought my 2010 earlier this year I noticed the same so i took it back for adjustment. Martin at ducati manchester said he noticed car drivers he was following on his bike adjusting their rear view mirror because of being blinded. His response was to put full beam on to show them what being blinded was!
    Pretty stupid I thought.

  20. My 2014 GT was so far out it was unrideable, it took a post on here and a chat with my dealer plus a friend to sort it. It had not been setup in the factory and appeared not to be part of the PDI.
