Pirelli Angel GT

1. Hi
Just done the first 800 miles on my new Multi GT. It came with Pirelli Angel GT tyres, I am finding them good in the dry not much experience in the wet yet. To get to the point in one months time I am going on a tour about 3.5 to 4 thousand miles. Does anyone have a feel for what mileage I can expect out of these boots. My dilemma do I get a new set before I go, I expect my mileage to be about 1500 miles by then. Has anyone done this sort of mileage yet.

2. I put them on my 2012 touring back in April and covered nearly 2000 miles since loads of life left I reckon they will be good for 6 - 7 k with ease.

Great all rounder and dare I say it real competition for the popular PR3's

3. I have recently had the Angel GT tyres put on the Multi and have covered about 2,500km (c. 1,500 miles) with them and have had to ride in some serious rain during my trip in May. Tyres performed really well in the wet, no issues with hard acceleration on the wet Italian motorways.

I can't yet comment on what sort of distance these tyres will do, however I have used Angel ST on my TDM and got about 8,000 miles out of the rear (smaller bike, less hp but has some torque). I also had Diablo Stradas on a Fazer 1000 and with motorway use I was also getting some high miles out of a rear before they did square off. I would guess that the GT should be good for 6-7k (as Whistler says).

I'll be off on another trip soon and will report back on how the tyres are performing.

4. Just put over 1600 miles on a GT with the Angel GT tyres and covered plenty of wet miles and temps down to 3c (in Portugal of all places!!!). I would rate them as a better tyre than the standard Scorpions but not as confident in the wet as the PR3. Also unknown how well they keep their profile after a few thousand miles. I had a couple of small slides but made pretty good pace in the wet and right to the edge in the dry.

If I was you I would keep them on and they should hold up fine. The Multi GT economy, brakes and lights are a good improvement and of course the Skyhook doesn't dive under braking which is nice. It is a noticeably heavier bike than my 1200 ABS though, even with all the luggage off.

Have a good trip and let us know how you get on with them.

Will post how I get on, seems to be a fair interest in this tyre.

6. Just thought I'd give an update on the Angel GTs as I'm approaching 6,000km (3,750 miles). Tyres are still in good shape having covered some motorway miles and mountain passes.

One point to note, from a short ride out last night, was that with the high temperatures (28C ambient) here the traction control light seems to come on more frequently when pulling away from traffic lights. Not sure if this is unique to this tyre or if it's a summer issue.

A quick snap of the rear tyre I took this morning before I dropped the bike off for the 12k service.

I'll keep updating once I have covered some more km's. Another 4 day trip coming up soon!!

8. That Pirelli looks less worn than the Scorpion on mine after just 1500 miles.

9. Now covered 4,200 miles and would say tyre good for another 3K :upyeah:

10. Looks like what i need next.

Anyone know if there are Multi rears back in stock in the UK now?

11. I'm very pleased with the GT too! Great grip in both dry and wet :)

12. getting GT's fitted to mine on monday. Only got 3200 miles out of the scorpions.

13. If you are after a rear scorpion I have a set with 600 miles on them, I am back in the country on Monday if you need them.

14. Not quite ready to change yet but i was after a rear Angel GT. Thanks anyway.

15. Was thinking about these gts for a while now,ive 1500 miles from new on my scorpions and the front is done, and the first 600 miles i run it in properly never really pushed it that much,so i think gts will be a good bet soon

16. went in to my local dealer to talk tyres yesterday with the intention of getting PR4's.
Ended up arranging for Angel GT's to go on tomorrow following the recommendation of not only one just several of the guys in there.

Here is hoping I love them. My Scorpian Trails have done 5000km and the front looks terrible. There is a bit more left on the rear, but I'm hoping to head off on a long trip next week so need new rubber

17. I still have my original GTs on my MTS.
I just over 2k on them before leaving and just done another 1800 on then with "spirited" riding in the alps up and down the mountain passes.
The grip has been great although on the hot days I was starting to notice the rear getting a bit loose and traction light starting to flash when pushing out of the hairpins. But nothing where it felt unstable. They gave plenty of confidence in the corners and the odd day of downpours they were good enough to push along at a decent pace in the wet.
I like most have read about the PR4s but in honesty when I need to change I think I'll stick with the GTs again.

18. Don't, whatever you do, make the same mistake I made. The standard size of the rear is a 55 profile but through ignorance I let the tyre fitter go with a 50 profile which is a wider tyre. Ended up changing back to the Scorpians because the tyre wall was too close to the Akrapovic end can. Andy

19. My GT's lasted 11,700KM (7200Miles). The Scorpions 10,000KM's (6200Miles). Felt good in wet conditions.
Went with GT's again, turns out tyre shop put on the 'A' spec GT's, feels rigid/stiffer.

20. My Scorpions are done at 4500miles but I am a fat bastard that rides a lot of two up, not much in way of comparison im afraid but i will be trying the Angels next set.
