Hm Plus Ss Quickshifter Fitted

  1. After a bit of searching about and measuring up I thought it must be possible to fit a stand alone quickshifter to the multi

I gave HM a ring and they were very helpful and after listening to the bits I needed and checking the plugs to confirm they would fit the HM Ducati harness they sent me out the new HM Plus SS (Seamless Shift) I had the HM GP fitted to my fireblade and loved how smooth it was but decided it would be overkill for the multi as I wouldn't need data logging etc

Fitting was simple really, plug the HM harness in line with the OE coil plugs located left side front attached to the frame for the front and in front of the battery for the rear. Then routing the harness under the seat for the sensor/control unit to plug in.

I then fitted the strain gauge, this used two rose joints cut down as short as possible to keep the overall length reduced to minimum, then relocating the shift lever a few splines on the shaft to allow for the extra length of the strain gauge and rose joints.

Once all tightened up and plugged in and correctly routed you just need to set up the shifter I have gone 35 sensitivity 60ms kill time and SS on which will reduce the kill time if required (e.g. It senses the shift has happened)

To ride it's excellent very smooth shift which is great when your pushing the bike but equally std shifting, I have had a quickshifter on most of my bikes and just miss not having it even the wife noticed the difference without it when she kept head butting me during shifts ... Now she barely noticed I have changed gear :)

  2. Am I right in thinking you could put the kill time up quite a lot higher knowing that the QS will always reduce the kill time. I always found that I was always trying to find the happy medium of having the QS working well at mid range revs as well as higher up the rev range.

  3. My Multi screen shows DQS on switch on, together with all the other items as the system boots up. Does this imply that the code etc is in the ECU and could be activated with an official Ducati QS?

  4. You can do that mrC as it will cut it down if required, 60 is std for most modern boxes but will try 65, 70, 75 etc to see how it reacts only been on a week but will report back with findings :)

  5. Possibly but haven't found any info to say either way I'm afraid

  6. No used the hm plus, plus SS and GP shifter

But given the usual quality of HM's kit I am sure the lite will be an excellent buy for a simple shifter
