Other than my suspicion that there may be dealer offers / finance incentives in September / October is there any good reason not to get an 1100 EVO SP to take the pressure off the old Superlight as the 'main' Ducati for Scottish A & B road scratching?
New 848 based version looming so the old air cooled lumps will probably be a good buy or depreciate like a stone
It's catching the last of the air cooled lumps that is part of the appeal, and of course as I will be keeping it forever (like the bike I was to be keeping forever that I would need to sell to partially fund this ) so deprecaition should not be a problem
I suspect you already know all this if youve Done your homework:: Some Suggestion that they r hard to get rid of. So Make sure it's a keeper. Its a bit thirsty (especially the earlier twin spark 1100) Tank range Is atrocious but Santa is gonna fix that this year!! As a converted ex sports bike rider i love it; It's light, nimble, quick enough when u need it to be and comfortable for a lazy ride.
You didn't do a very good job of talking me out of it  Hypermotard 1100 EVO SP by Lindsay fae Angus, on Flickr
Very nice. Glad you weighed it up. Now start saving for a 700 fuel cell from California Cycle works. And it'll be perfect!!!
Yep, as stated by FREAK there is a new version coming, part Multi part Hyper, I believe it will be the 848 engine and will have comfy seat and luggage.
Yes, there's a very good reason why you shouldn't buy one ... you'll never want any other bike ever again!!! My 748S has sat in the garage for the last two years while I've racked up 18,000 miles on the Hyper as it's the best bike ever!! I've even taken it on a trackday for a laugh
I had an 1100S and loved it. It was tricked out with a full open Termignoni exhaust system and race cams. It was a real hooligan bike and you really had to ride it like you stole it. It was a pain in the ass on fast, straight A roads due to the windblast but on the twisties - whoaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa !!!!!!!!!!! I was going to loose my licence riding that beast so I sold it. Oh, it's not very practical for filtering because of the width of the bars but it's an awesome bike. Did I talk you out of it ?
I`m with you there, love the aircooled engines. Have you considered an 1100 monster as well? Bigger tank and more comfortable for a lot of riders.
I'm surprised by some of the "don't do motorway" and "can't filter" comments - mine does 76 miles each day on my commute round the M25 and into central London and it's a fantastic bike for filtering! You're very upright and can see over the cars. The bars make it easy to balance and also to manoeuvre around cars and into gaps. Yes the bars are wide but you soon get used to that ... after clipping the odd wing mirror! Wind blast does hit you in the chest - it's my first "naked" bike so something I'm not used to with all the sports bikes I've had - but it's only a problem if you're at 95mph+ or with a heavy head-wind. I've seen 134mph on the clocks in France ... I'm sure I could have made 135mph if I'd tucked the mirrors in!! I've also toured on it into France and Belgium many times. Yes the tank range is rubbish - I have to fill it up every day and if I do 1 mile over my 76 mile commute the fuel light comes on! - but you just plan ahead and stop more often. Servicing is easy - I do it myself - and parts are readily available as they're common to a lot of the older bikes including the 916 line, 999 line, 1098/848 and the old Multistrada. This one is another keeper!
Antony, where are you in London? I'm in the city. We should meet up. Liking the idea of a watercooled hyper...
Opposite for me, I dont fit the Hyper riding position so it had to be the monster. Good luck when you get it, sure you it will make you smile!
No, you just haven't twigged who I am even though you don't know me, and that marked your card as a twat from day one.
