hi guys ive been thinking about getting my engine rebuilt and blue printed over winter and cant decide who to use, either luigi moto or gtec racing ,both have very good reputations but i just cant decide, anyone had an engine built or had dealing with both companys and can shed some light on this?? cheers.
Dint discount CJS. He built a motor fir me and is very easy to deal with. The others are a bit pricey imo
Some ood winter discounts soon. Wm snells do some great blueprint work, having taken on the sigma work etc
I hadn't heard Chris had joined luigi moto, but that doesn't mean it hasn't happened. I haven't spoken to him for a year or two. As for Snells, they buggered up a mates S4R. I only trust places that don't sell bikes. I know you will always find a bad review if you look hard enough, so I'll leave it at that.
You're right all places have the occasiojnal bad one, incl those mentioned and other very respected and large builders
Try Ducati John. He did my 748R motor for a decent price. He wouldn't do the tuning but he knows how to build an engine and no doubt he has a few contacts.
Sorry to jump in, my advice would be to ring/meet your recommendations (all very good) introduce your bike and create a rapport, you need to feel confident they will look after your pride and joy and execute work required at a fair price. TopiToo
£1400 all in including all parts (over £900 alone),oil, oil filter and oil filter removal tool and shipping a part back to me for painting (side casing). That was the cheapest quote I had had and Ducati John came highly recommended anyway so it was not difficult to entrust the work to him.
Louigi Moto and CJS are on the same site and absolutly fantastic for quality, service and price. Really really can't recommend them enough. Just a blueprint on my 996SPS took it from whatever standard is to over 143bhp! Sure Rich squeezed in some bigger pistons but only 4% capacity increase. And that was with no headwork at all! Just building it how Ducati would want to given the time.
I used Ducati John to service my bike - and as i was considering a blueprint and i also had a small oil leak to fix he suggested he check her internally while sorting the leak. I was made up when he rang me to say the engine was in fine fettle internally and he wouldn't bother touching it for 10 or 20k miles yet! I thought it was good to get that reassurance rather than touting for the business!
