1200 My Latest Problem - Any Ideas

  1. Er, the point is, they wouldn't need to.

  2. Not BMW :)

  3. I got the same 'not interested' reply from Ducati Uk re my de plated pulleys. My mileage 28,000. Full Ducati service history etc etc. It's a TOURING MOTORCYCLE WITH 3 PANNIERS so it should last more than the 3 years of life it's had?
Will also e-mail Ducati Italy and see what happens.

  4. I'd also contact MCN. The more that do, the more likely they are to respond. I've already had a response from Andy Downes saying he'll contact Ducati UK. The more problems he's aware of, the more he'll have to report.

For what its worth, here's the initial response I've had to the post I made on the Ducati website as suggested by AndyW:

Looks like it never made it to Italy in the first instance...

  5. It's a good question isn't it? I bet BMW would, especially as the parts concerned are MAJOR engine components that should have a life of 70K miles plus. Similarly Kawasaki but I think the point is that such failures simply wouldn't happen with those bikes, except perhaps the off 1 in 1000 lemon bike. Kawasaki engines in particular are pretty bulletproof.

KTM, I agree, you're probably in the same boat as Ducati. Maybe worse as they're a much smaller concern.

  6. Ummm...you saw the confidentiality terms on the bottom of that email, right? :-o

  7. Meh

  8. A chink of light with the original problem I mentioned at the top of this thread. I got caught in heavy rain on Wednesday morning, which meant the wheels a brakes got a good soaking. The problem has not happened since! I can only think something was caught in the front ABS sensor and was causing phantom readings.

  9. For what its worth, here's the initial response I've had to the post I made on the Ducati website

I got the exact same reply (see "blown engine") so I bought and fitted a second hand engine, once back on the road I phoned ducati customers service and told em what I thought and hey oh I'm going to pick up my re built foc engine tday :)
I've seen the retail parts price £13000!! And that’s without labour.
I now own a tiger sport and a virtually new mts engine also a dented wallet but they came through in the end so give it a try, what you got to loose! And good luck.

  10. Corporate bullying! I would like to see them enforce that. Parties have to agree terms prior to communication, simply adding a statement to a footnote does not forgo any agreement, nor make it binding. Surely ?

GarySN should reply with a footer in his saying email "Ducati agree to meet all costs .....etc etc" which will have as equal standing in lieu of any agreement.

I would press them for their official stance on the matter as at the moment they have wriggle room on the subject if you go public.

  11. Airing grievances and reposting emails on the internet is not a great way to get what you want in my honest opinion.

  12. I agree, but nothing I've tried to date has made a blind bit of difference. Believe me, my tactics are born of frustration.
