Hi Gents, Thinking of getting a Multistrada soon , and wondered how easy/expensive it it to get OEM panniers & top box if the bike I eventually buy doesn't have them as std? Thanks Darren
They come up on here and ebay fairly often but are never cheap. Expect to pay about £300 for a topbox and a similar amount for the panniers.
Darren, when you buy do not forget the support brackets that bolt onto the pillion foot rest hangers.
Thanks for your responses guys n girls . I'll be back with more stoopid questions as I get closer to buyin one! Cheers D
If you are to spend about an extra £500-600 on panniers and top box I reckon buy one with these already and it will cost less ,at least you can haggle down the cost of the bike with these already fitted.
Just be careful if buying used. You need a long warranty to fall back on when things go wrong. This one looks the part, but see here and here for details of its history. In the time I had it, I had the following replaced under warranty, then finally decided to get rid when I got a bill of £1300 for a failed main engine bearing: Radiator Right-hand switchgear Left-hand switchgear Sidestand switch Clutch-fluid reservoir Front brake-fluid reservoir Exhaust compensator (section incorporating exhaust valve) Rear brake caliper Tail-light bracket Water pump cover Clutch-side crankcase cover Generator cover Instrument panel Steering lock mechanism
With the announcement of the new multistrada I would guess the prices of previously enjoyed ones to fall. Being the case if your budget allows,go for a 2013 updated model,as this does address quite a few of the issues of the older generation.
