Paddock Stand

  1. Hey
I have been told to only buy a Ducati paddock stand as they fall off others. I'm thinking of just getting an Abba stand instead.

    Any thoughts?

  2. I have the ducati performance paddock stand and the abba. The ABBA is amazing, great for doing rear shock work and front fork work as it doesn't take much effort to raise the front due to the seesaw effect. Ive even used it at track days but it is slightly more of a faff even when you can master the art of doing it on your own whilst sitting on the bike. If you don't do track days then ABBA all the way, if you track then id buy a paddock stand too.

  3. But quite skimping and get an Abba SkyLift!!!

  4. I picked up on of those 1Jac jobbies. If you intend doing any serious spannering I would highly recommend them. A bit pricier than a paddock stand but makes life a lot easier, especially if work space is a bit limited.

  5. My 916 fell off mine BUT it was my fault. I was rushing to work and spinning the wheel oiling my chain and not paying attention. Plus I hadnt put my securing bolt thru the wheel. It does happen but only if you are a dickhead like me.

  6. Harris one is really well made. Had one for years and abused it with no problems. Quite happy sitting on the bike and programming my dash on it. And that involves holding the bike at half revs in ALL gears.

  7. I like the 1jac. 300 notes is a bit rich for me after buying the bike, falling out with Swinton and needing new cans. Apparently there is something about a fat bloke with a beard drinking cola coming up too which the good lady tells me may cost a few pennies.

I can't think of more horrific moments in a bikers life than a Ducati falling off its paddock stand. I think I would be physically sick.

  8. It is physically sickening. I had to replace rh clip on, lever and upper fairing. I got lucky that the damage was slight.

I took the day off work.

  9. F G Gubellini stands are good, they make them for Ducati under their DP brand, they come with a bar to lock the back wheel to help remove the centre nut.

  10. My bike seems to gradually slide off my Ducati paddock stand when cleaning, taken to using a bit of bungee cord to keep it where it should be!

  11. Got mine on Ebay for £120 unused, plus £40 for the bike specific kit from 1 Jac

  12. Oh that can't be fun.

  13. I did the same, lubing the chain and it worked off the stand. 'Fortunately' my car broke it's fall so it didn't hit the floor... :(

  14. Abba stand it is then. I can't afford the therapy!

  15. I'm gonna get a skylift for mine at the show in a couple of weeks! Can't wait to push it around the garage and play with it up in the air!:upyeah:

  16. Do you actually get good prices at MCN live?

  17. The discount isnt as good as it used to be but yes you will get it slightly cheaper.

My monster fell off the paddock stand earlier this year. It was on the rear stand and i was putting the front under fork stand on. One of the fork legs slipped off the stand and the momentum caused it to fall taking the rear stand with it. Your strength and reaction time in a situation like that is amazing. Wish i was like that all the time! It literally bounced. Got away with just a plastic bar end and re sprayed the end of the gear lever!

  18. Just keep an eye on ebay..........Loads of options!
Best to get on with a bearing in the spindle, these goes a long way to prevent the falling off issues...:upyeah:
