899 Nearly A Owner

Discussion in 'Panigale' started by Steve675, Nov 7, 2014.

  1. I put a deposit down on a red 899 last week, going back to the dealer in the morning to finalise everything then just wait for it to be delivered. Im going to add a seat cowl and tail tidy and maybe a race seat. What tail tidy do you guys recommend? Was going to go for the r&g one. I found the standard seat very slippery, does this wear in and get more grippy or is it best to go for the race seat? Just ordered a set of light tech levers to. Before I pick the bike I'm having the wheels done matte bronze.

  7. Good choice of bike fella.
I've gone for a bruudt tail tidy on mine as it's subtle (no silly branding) and well made.
Seat didn't wear in on mine so changed it for a dp comfort seat.
    Welcome to the forum

  8. Nice bike , hope you enjoy and ride it through winter!!
    Hello.

  9. I too am looking at tail tidies and I think I will go for the Bruudt, the R&G instructions look awful.
Would not mind a carbon one but they all look bulky compared to the Bruudt.

Is the race seat just as hard as the standard one and is the comfort seat higher and can you tell it is any softer.

  10. I've not tried the race seat so can't comment. The comfort seat whilst being slightly thicker has a lot more grip than the stock I found. It is softer but no cushion and not saggy by a long shot. It's also prettier, which is a bonus.
Now I've fitted the tail tidy and had it off to then change the indicators to smaller ones, tip I'd give is you don't need to take half as much plastic as I did off (which I learnt the hard way!).
Which part of the country are you in as it's one small screw to attach the seat so happy for you to try mine if you can't find a demo bike with one on.

  11. I am in the North East.

The R&G instructions made it look like you had to completely take the rear end to pieces, looked a pig of a job for something that is meant to unbolt quickly. I presumed you just took the three bolts out and unplugged the wires !

  12. I agree on both counts.

  13. Get the dealer to install it for free.

  14. I have the R&G one and yes you do have to take the rear end apart, it is easy to put it on it's just time consuming. But I think all or most of the others you will have to do the same also.

Oh and congrats on the purchase, im sure you will enjoy it.

  15. I think it should be easy enough. Repair cars for a living. what are Ducati like with putting new tech on other models, I've read the new 1299 panigale comes with clutch less down shift with buttons on the left handle bar. Would love this as a option for the 899. What you guys reckon?

  16. Go on the 899 forum there's a guy that races them and his shop/dealership are making them and is looking to get a few folk on board to sell a few to keep the cost down, although they are in America.

  17. As far as I can see the buttons are not for downshifts, they are to change the settings for the dtc, abs etc ?

  18. Just had a look at that blipper downshifted, looks good, but hopefully Ducati will bring it out for other models.

  19. Hope u enjoy it fell, I got the slightly thicker suede touring seat, it's awesome with no nut cracking on the tank at all.

  20. Very nice bike jay. Yeah I cracked my nuts on the tank a few times. Which is why changing the seat is the first thing I'm getting. i might see if they have both in stock tomorrow and check them out.
