Im thinking of dropping the front sprocket by one tooth, from the std 15T to a 14T (ST4) The reason being that its a little clumsy at slow speed in traffic and I think the 14T would feel a little more "under control", albeit with a small drop off of top speed, but I'm sure I can live with that. Has anyone else tried this, and what did you think of the result?
Do It, i thought every one did it with all Ducati's. On the ST it would be a good idea, as already said, to go +1 on the rear as well . Or even +2 ! How often do you try to ride above 140 anyway.
Daily lol... Minus 1 at the front is equal to plus 3 on the back, or 2.886 for the pedantic, although I believe changing the rear is less loading on the gearbox... I'm doing a RoSPA test soon and I just want to give myself a better chance with low speed manoeuvring. I've ordered the minus 1 and i'll report back next week.
I fourteened my 916 and that made it better. Havent done the 1198 yet. Probably wont now CJS has made my bike smoother than a smooth thing going smoothly.
It's done, minus 1 fitted at the front only.. must say the first impression is that it has the desired effect. It feels ready to try a trials section, lol. I havent had it on fast roads yet but around the houses, super..
Out today on my RoSPA observed ride, bike feels super, responsive, easier at slow speed and still "very useful" on the open road.. Yes a good modification.
I ran a 14t on the 4s for ages and it defintely improves things. However, I also found that my rpm pickup sensor was incorrectly shimmed. When it was set up correctly, it made a bigger difference to low range smooth running. A
