Streetfighter deposit paid test ride Thursday

Discussion in 'Ducati General Discussion' started by Sparky_, Aug 7, 2012.

  1. Hi guys and girls

Ive found a white 09 1098 streetfighter with 8K on the clock
Full termi system, ecu to match and airbox

Quick action throttle and tail tidy

So what do I expect to find with it?
Will it be as tame as I think it will be ?

Any advise would be great guys

  2. A good view of the sky as you'll spend most of the time on the back wheel. They're mental.

  3. Cheers Matt
whats the bikes bike like itself?
I know the handling is going to be second to none
    but how do they ride?

  4. Yeah I'd be very interested to know too.

  5. Surely if you've paid your deposit you've already had a test ride? Hope it's a returnable one if you don't get on with the SF.

  6. When im selling cars, i never keep the deposit unless the customer has gone so far down the line with the deal then cancelled and i have incurred costs on the car.

I would then refund the difference if any left.

or its a brand new car thats been ordered to a specific specification.

Hope you enjoy the bike, id be interested to hear you're opinion on it.

  7. I paid the deposit just so it wouldn't sell
its got on it what I'd put in it anyway
    one not to miss
and it's in white woohoo lol

  8. Not sure you gonna need the quick action throttle

  9. Trouble  I've got no experience with SF but I've got 1098S superbike and although it's easier to ride than I expected it's also deceptively fast. Also expect it to be right pig below 4k. Other than that have fun!

  10. My local dealer says they can be a real problem with their power delivery and knows quite a few of his customers who have came a cropper giving it some beans in the twisties. May be worth considering an 848 sf

  11. I had a 2010 SFs from new for two years. Bit of a strange bike to get along with I found. A good laugh and reasonably comfortable, not a cozy as I would have expected but that is almost certainly down to me as I have a handicap. As you would expect it is very VERY wheelie prone and must be given respect when on a mission. Some days I just loved it. I guess part of my problem with it was I also own a 1098s and I bought the SFs expecting it to be as fantastic handeling machine as my 1098s but with added comfort. This is most certainly why I didn't always get along with the SFs, the SFs is not as refined and accurate as my 1098s. The 1098 almost seems to have the ability to read my mind and just goes where my mind wills it without a second thought or protest. The SF is more work and can protest and shake its head but then the geometry is different and the tyres are not as sticky so I suspect if I did not keep trying to compare it with my 1098s I would have loved it full stop. Now I have sold the SFs to fund my Pikes Peak Mutly I miss the SFs because it was a giggle which I think sums it up, the SFs is a hooligan while the 1098s is refined. Doh... there I go again trying to compare them.
I hope this helps you without sounding like a load of bollox.

    Chris.

  12. I could keep talking all day about the Street Fighter, loved it. Forgot to mention one obvious problem is the wind blast. I have had naked bikes before and in the past have found a small screen helps no end, however I did buy the DP screen which made absolutely no difference at all. In fact I think if you look at my album there is a picture of it on there. Riding flat out really is incredibly difficult to hang onto it and you certainly can't keep daft speeds up for long unless I guess you have a neck like Mike Tyson. Please feel free to ask any questions. I spent a fortune on mods on my SFs too but that's just me, it seems to be a bad habit I have with all my bikes. So if you want any advice on mods, again feel free to ask away.
    Chris.
