1200 Spare Keys

  1. Spotted these on Ebay and, for the price, couldn't see any reason why not as I'm looking for a petrol cap opener:

    Uncut Blank Spare Keys

Anyone know a suitable key cutter in the North London area by any chance?

  2. These are the wrong blanks for your multley!

  3. I found it really hard to find a blank key cutter, tbh you are just as well better off going to Timpson, generally they will not stock at the shop but get it in and cut it

  4. Oops. Advert states Multistrada (although it doesn't specify which model) but they looked similar. £3.69 not so well spent then (and one less Guinness for me this weekend - hey ho) but I'll not lose any sleep over it.

@MaDProFF - thanks for the advice. Will have to wait and see if these keys are duff or not but will try out Timpson once sorted with a blank.

  5. I spent ages finding a key cutter, ( I never did) and several wasted trips, you need a laser cutter, but most of all you need a small cutter that all key cutters did not have, One guy cut one of my blanks with out my key, software only, but had warned me he did not have the cutter, it did not work :( Ducati do sell blank keys too. think Timpson supplied 2 for around £25-00 for the pair and cut. Timpson WOULD not cut Blanks though :(

  6. I tried Timpson's. Guy said it was company policy not to cut keys supplied by customers and he couldn't get me a key. I did find a place in NW London that will cut a Ducati blank but I didn't get round to going so I can't vouch for them - or remember where it was! I will look again.

  7. Hmm I do not understand Timpson's saying that, they did mine, and got my key blanks, they had to order them in.

  8. My local Timpson's couldn't be arsed?

  9. There are loads of Timpsons try another, phone one up, they should do it.
I might add I ordered the blank key that was key only, no chip in it

  10. I got an even weirder answer from Timpsons in Dundee. They claimed, as company policy, that they wouldn't cut a non-transponder key from a transponder master because some one could fit a transponder in it and use it illegally! They also said if I supplied a blank they wouldn't cut it for the same reasons. What a load of tosh.
A local locksmith ordered a blank for me and cut it, all for a tenner.

  11. I asked my dealer where they got keys cut when I bought the blank. Had 2 done now without problem.

  12. I can't remember the name of the firm that told me they could cut Ducati keys but I think they're located on this industrial estate.

  13. I've had spare keys cut, from Ducati transponder-less blanks that I got from Ducati Aylesbury, at Engrave UK (Joe Stokes) based near Tesco in the Kingston Centre of Milton Keynes.

  14. Locks Eleven at 40 Grays Inn Road, London WC1 are specialised professional locksmiths. They can make any key for anything. Not at all like the regular chains of key-cutters.

  15. @Pete1950

Will probably give them a try as it's not that far away from one of my places of work - thanks for the info.

  16. There is a place on Procter street, near holborn that cut mine. I bought a blank from dealer and took it to them in the ducati packing. They did say if it looked like a cheap Chinese key they wouldn't cut it, as they are too soft.

  17. @John W

Thanks for the advice and the keys haven't arrived from China yet so I might just get on with it and order a blank from the dealer - at least you know you're getting the right thing I suppose....

  18. Meant to ask a while ago why these weren't the right blanks? Did you mean they're the wrong design/shape?
