The LV mid pipe showed up this week and I installed it today, just using the stock can, which has no sound deadening at all. The sound is not too loud at idle and sounds really nice, but whack the throttle and it barks. Dont get me wrong I love the sound, just not the db level. Its going to be another 6 months before I can take it for a spin, and I was in a small garage. I think it will be a little quieter with the bags on. Can anyone suggest a good end can, that wont break the bank, and tones it down a little? __________________
On the leovince system the removable baffle is in the end can. I went through the same pain. Someone on here is offering the optional "dB killer" for use with the standard can, but warns its still too loud. Note this is not a quick fit, but instead fits between the standard can and the mid decat pipe.
It is very loud on the open road...you will get pulled. It can be heard miles away. Might aswell ride a harley able too, albeit they don't rev that high. You'll notice the lack of performance down low (or at least I thought I could). Man up and buy the proper Leo Vince end can (with removable baffle).
Also you've one of the best performing exhausts there.... Better than the Termis, only the Quad D sounds better...I wish I bought the Quad- D:Shifty:
My Mivv sounds awesome, you get 3 db killers, 2 for the midpipe and one for the end can, with all 3 fitted its loud but depends on what you expect to be fair. I think it gives better performance with all 3 fitted.
I have the same set up, Leo vince de cat & std end can, ended up buying a short universal baffle, and fitted it in the end can, after a bit of modifying fitted snug and is now an acceptable noise level.
I had the same problem but mine was a mivv decat pipe so i had a link pipe made and fitted a spare akra i had, without the baffle in it has a nice bark but with it in you could tour no problem.
I have been thinking about this all day...I have some stainless stock in the basement. I think I will break out the tig welder and fashion some removable DB killers, that I can pop rivet into the outlets. That way I can experiment with different sound levels and the effect on performance. Rather than just block the hole, I think I can make the sound change direction, like a flowmaster muffler..
Quat D does sound amazing... Shameless plug... Mine is for sale on here, looking for a good home. But yes, any change to the CAT with the standard end can is too loud. There is no baffling whatsoever! Sounds awesome, but too loud... I'm sure the OP will be able to sort it though...
Here is what I came up with..I shortened them till I got the sound I wanted. They look worse in the picture than on the bike..Its surprising how much they quiet things down. The inlet is 1 7/8, and the two outlets 1" each, so flow should not be greatly reduced..
Original diameter for air flow was 17.81cm2 you now have 10.14cm2 (2x 5.07).....so a reduction of 43%!!! What's the top speed like?
