Hi all been lurking here a few weeks reading up on the MS1200 which I've been interested in having recently sold my BMWK1200r. Previously had big sports/tourers mostly Jap 4 cylinder stuff more recently having BMWs but being a big lad and in mid 40's now I'm leaning towards a more comfy ride but not wanting to lose the sporty side of biking! Had narrowed it down to a few bikes but having gleaned some good info here took a MS a couple weeks ago for a demo and have to say I really liked it! Did the deal yesterday and collecting a 13 plate ABS model with panniers heated grips and centre stand with 4k on clock on 22nd Dec..... Can't wait!! The skyhook model was out of my price range and I reckoned I wouldn't miss what I never had! I'm in Cornwall.... Any fellow MS owners down my way??
Yep me too.. just bought my first Duke.... 2013 MS1200 Touring with an unbelievable 925 miles on the clock... Now I wonder what the trade would be against a 2015 MS ? Hmmmmmn......
Hiya The Muttley 1200 is my first Duck too, I got a '13 plate GT with Skyhook, didn't know any different plus it was shiny lol!!! Thought I would really miss my Z1000 and at the beginning it was like I had made the wrong choice. However, 6 months in and I love the MS, although I wish I could have afforded to keep the Zed too.
....Yes Phil and welcome to the forum. I am located between Liskeard and Saltash. This is a great forum with useful info, will touch base with you later. Cheers for now Vince.
Thanks for all the welcomes! Yes Comfysofa my k1200r was the naked terminator looking one, great bike except for the low down surging! Was the main reason for getting rid in the end! vj if you ever fancy a spin out come the better wetter, would be good to meet up!
Cool I really like those...what was it like? I like cthem cos they're a bit different, unusual, and don't see many around....one of the reasons I own what I own.( hypermotard, rsv4 and supermoto).
Yeah great bike, and what attracted me was it was mad to look at & the same to ride!! Went like a train and great handling! Got loads of attention wherever it was parked up too. Shame about the fuelling problem otherwise I'd probably have kept it. Looking forward to life with the Multi.....hope it's as reliable as the Beemer was?!
Maybe could have gotten it dyno'd? Low end was\is a problem for some ducs as well...had my hyper done at cjs and it was like driving a different bike......I did\would\have considered one as a replacement for my rsv4 if my back got any worse although it seems to be holding up at the moment...
Ha! We're similar there brother! I've got a dodgy back too so this was also a consideration in buying the multi! Have spent all my biking life on big sports tourers & I'd got to that age of life where comfort was becoming almost as important as handling and power! Re the k12 I did buy it knowing about the fuelling issues and it didn't seem too bad on a test run but as time went on it just got to me & I wasn't enjoying riding it. Was great on the open road but a pig in and around towns. I tried a booster plug to no real avail and prob could've gone down the PC & dyne route but decided against it in the end. I'd heard the Ducs had similar issues low down which was why I had a good test ride on one and trawled this forum for info.....glad to say that it's nothing in comparison to the K12!!
Heh.....yeah...I'm getting to that stage of life but....I can't bring myself to get rid of the rsv4 as I love it...it's the perfect tool for the TT ( going this year....again) if it was my only bike then yes I would sell it but as I've got the hyper and the soon to be supermoto project almost finished I can keep it as it gets used rarely which is the reason I like it.....sounds a bit wet but when ever I get the rsv 4 out its.....an occasion... Hyper was my daily bike but the supermoto will now take its place as I've built it to be uber resistant to the elements...plus I've built it from the ground up so there's nothing I don't know about it.... I think if I had to strip it now I could have it down to the frame inside 3 hours...
