If you are on a fireblade your fingers will quickly remind you of the frost. On the other hand the Mutley needs this indication as my summer gloved hand quickly becomes warm when the heated grips are set to medium.
It telling you to put the cover back over it, shut the garage door and go back in the house and sit in front of the Fire!.
Then you're brave and I take my hat off to you. However if you are one of the people who do it for pleasure like the ones I saw at 730 am this morning when it was -3 (including the one that fell off on the corner) then you are stupid!.
you gain nothing riding this time of year , only surviving , I like to think you get better each time your out and learn the bike etc, , we ride in pretty poor weather but never ice etc,,
Last summer headed up a deep canyon road in the early morning hours and rode into shrouded cold air, my fingers froze just shortly after the yellow ice warning came on !! I was caught by surprise as I didn't know it had that.
I commuted for years through winter from South to Central London on my GSXR600 and when that started to show the ravages of several winters I sold it and bought a couple of R1's. They were the only mode of transport I had. I used to ride in frost and on the occasional icy roads. It was lunacy and not something I'd like to repeat !
