1200 Mutley1200s January Bargains

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by SPL, Dec 31, 2014.

  1. Hi Guys,

I've been a bit quiet on the forum lately, as my Mutley has been written off after an accident :(
A car and trailer I was passing pulled out to overtake the car in front of it taking me out and snapping my bike at the headstock.

I could have done without the joyride in the air ambulance, or the multiple broken bones, but I'm well on the road to recovery now and have had a sort out of all the OE parts which were in storage in my loft.

    Anyone looking for a bargain could do worse than check out this thread;

  2. SPL, really sorry to hear about your plight and great to know that you are 'on the mend' :upyeah:
I don't need any bits and pieces, just thought I'd come along and wish you well.
Hope 2015 is kinder to you and that you plan to get back on the road again riding you know what :)

  3. Thanks mate - for various reasons 2015 can only be better, so I'm looking forward to it! :upyeah:

  4. Just seen this
    Hope your mending well
Hope 2015 is kinder to you
All the very best on your recovery

  5. Well done for still being here to look forward to 2015. That reads like a really bad one!

Maybe I should keep my very loud "safety" exhaust?

Hope you are back on two wheels soon.

  6. Very much a GWS.

  7. Thanks guys :)

Am over the worst of it now - have to stick at the physio for a bit and then get in the gym to recover strength, but considering where I was a few months ago things are definitely on the up.

Big shout out for MCE by the way - they have been great, and have probably become my no1 prefered insurer for all future policies.

The process of dealing with them was very quick and easy, with great comms and no unnecessary red tape.
They settled for my bike very quickly and at a pretty reasonable valuation.
They've appointed a solicitor to recover this (and other costs / injuries) from the other driver.

It's going to take a while to sort out though as he initially didn't even report the accident, then he denied liability (which of course his insurers are taking as their stance too), and we're waiting on the outcome of the police investigation (which can take up to 6 months) before we can go to court.

  8. Sorry to hear about your off and injuries but glad you're on the mend.

Everyone has their own story but it took just over 4 years to finally settle my case with the other driver + his insurance refusing to accept liability (despite there being video evidence) then they wouldn't 'talk' until my medical treatment was completed (it still isn't). The point I'm making is that you can expect delaying tactics from the other side, postponements of court dates and then attempts to get you to go for the first (and stupidly/insultingly way off) offer. Stick to your guns and remember - once you settle that's it so make sure everything is taken into account (like potential arthritis in old age etc etc).

Oh, and there's no better feeling than getting back to biking by the way.............:upyeah:

  9. Spot on there Mark H, on all counts. I've had two cases one took seven years to settle and the second took five.
Because of the length of the first case I settled the second one too soon, I didn't think at the time about future problems with arthritis, which I'm now suffering with quite badly.
SPL I hope you get better and back to normal soon and get back on a bike.

  10. Sorry to hear about that spl , mine went south last September but no one else involved and no broken bones luckily. Took 8 wks to get the cheque off mce.

  11. Hope you're over the worst of it now mate. GWS

  12. Wish you well on getting back in the saddle. Just make sure the solicitor MCE use is a solicitor and not a para legal or someone who has done an on-line legal course!
A few horror stories of insurance companies farming out cases to people with NO legal training. I hope MCE use a good firm; as I'm with them too! (MCE).

  13. Thanks for the good wishes and pointers guys - will try and check up, but so far I feel that the legal team have been very good, so I think I'm in good hands...
