Top Box And Rack With Ducati Panniers

  1. Hi there,

    I have standard Ducati panniers on my ST4S and wondered what rack and topbox could be added. Is it only the Ducati one, which I don't think is available any more? The Givi website says its rack won't fit with standard panniers installed.

    Very keen to hear what others have done.

  2. This has been discussed a few times... Basically, with most aftermarket systems, you can have either the rack or the panniers. Pretty much the only rack that will fit with OEM pannier racks is the OEM Ducati one.
    However, with a bit of "creative engineering" ( or if you're not too bothered about what it looks like ) other things can be made to fit. I have original pannier racks with a second hand aftermarket top-box rack grafted on... I wouldn't want to put too much weight in the box, but it's OK for carrying waterproofs etc, and for leaving helmets in...

  3. Thanks - that's very helpful. It was to store my helmet when out and about but I've managed to fit my Arai comfortably into the standard pannier, which was a surprise.

  4. I had non tango panniers which came with my ST4, this was about the time they stopped making them. After a while I gave in trying to buy a Non tango top box and bought a Givi, which matched the panniers almost exactly.

  5. Non Fango and Givi are, if memory serves correctly, basically the same company. One of them made the OEM Ducati kit, but I can't remember which one. You may find genuine racks offered on here and occasionally on e-bay, but they sell pretty quickly - the are a bit "hens' teeth"...
    The original panniers were actually designed to take a full-face helmet - the problem is that, annoyingly, they are just a little bit too small to take an A4 ring-binder : typical Italian design !

  7. Well... It does say that they fit with the factory panniers...
    About time somebody made something that fits !

  9. The givi universal rack will fit behind the standard panniers, or the non fango setup goes on easily. A tiny mod of the non fango arms and you fit a givi top plate.
