Future Of Bike Magazines.

  1. Open ended this one is....The baron's jizz machine site seems to have been received (pardon the pun) well and coupled with the closing of Superbike and them saying "theyre going to a web based model" I did almost forget about "44teeth" - went back to it yesterday and spent most of the evening looking round there.....ive gotta hand it to the baron but he's definitely onto a winner on there as long as the content flow is nice and steady. I think he's got it just right. Uncluttered, easy to read - and also more to the point, interesting to read, well written and above all fun. I have to say for printed magazines usually their website based counterpart is never/rarely updated, badly laid out and generally crap. If, when the superbike magazine "opens its doors" theyre going to have to work hard to better 44teeth. Well done Baron and Alastair. Keep it up.

    • Thanks Thanks x 1
  2. Cheers for the link, looks a damn good site. I was a bit gutted about Superbike mag closing down as I prefer paper based mags after staring at a screen all day in work, plus I liked Chris Northovers contributions as he seems to share my attitude to two wheels.

  3. Read the Pani article yesterday via FB, gave me a laugh, didn't realise BVG & AF were behind it but makes sense now, top marks :upyeah:

  4. It all seems a bit...insubstantial. Gotta start somewhere I suppose, but I wouldn't pay to subscribe to that channel, whereas I'd happily buy a copy of Superbike each month. I hope John Hogan's venture goes well, he's a real nice bloke, he loves his bikes and he's a decent writer. But it needs to be substantially better than 44teeth...

  5. Well, for a first go i reckon its really good. I did like the way they did a summary video at the end of the bmw test where they read out peoples questions....something you can do with a mag.... i thought that was great. Takes advantage of the platform they have. As i say if its updated regularly then itll only get bigger.

  6. Good luck to them, but don't like barons voice or commentary style.

  7. Yep. From his vlogs id totally agree with the warbling of every other word.....but, what ive heard and seen on the site he appears to have "normalized" a little which is welcome. I do like his writing style as well.

  8. Not my cup o tea.

Should be called B V Marmite.

  9. Good site and hope it continues :upyeah:

  10. Now if our very own glid wrote a bike site I'd certainly read that...

  11. Too hipster for me...

  12. I've been liking the Baron's vlogs for quite a while now but they're a bit sporadic of late - (still no 24 hr Euro trip vid). With his new partner to spur him on and bounce ideas off on 44 Teeth, things have started well and they should upload content on a more regular basis. So far, so good and I reckon this first year will get better and better.

  13. I dunno, looking at your avatar you are halfway there with that 'tache.

  14. Touche my friend.....back atchya!

  16. Threads merged.

  17. Not subtly, either..

  18. Surly all physical publications will shortly cease to exist in any volume. Porn mags and newspapers probably taking the lead. Even my favorite - gramophone- is now largely web based. The question will be how much of the content will have to be bought and how much paid for by advertising.
