I wasn't claer in my description, I meant the little baffle that's built into the front pipe and not any pipe to silencer baffle, if that makes sense. Let me know how you get on with your custom baffle.
Is Chris of Cjs modiciation just adding ports to allow the exhaust gases to be measured? I know Chris added an extra port to my rear header to allow safer or easier connection.
How come the Akrapovic can doesn't fit with the Leo Vince Decat? I'm sure I had seen online that people had this combination....... Akrapovic slip on w/Leo cat delete pics - Ducati.ms - The Ultimate Ducati Forum
The guy who makes theses Decat' systems is called Ben Hetherington and he can be contacted on mobile 07540-119137. He's a really helpful guy and his email address is [email protected]
@Ape2Duc, you will find that the Akrapovic end can socket, the bit the LV pipe goes in is shorter than the OE end can. This means that the LV pipe work is 5 to 10 mm too long so the Akrapovic can doesn't go far enough on to engage the spigot on the LV pipe. You have two choices, either shorten the pipe or as I did use a gash strip of metal, make up the difference in length clamped at the end can and the LV pipe. It wasn't difficult but I reverted to the original end can because the Akrapovic without any baffle was way too loud. The LV baffle only fits the OE end can. Ben's decat pipework does address this with a baffle that is part of the pipe work and not the end can but I don't know how compatible his pipe is with after market cans. Happy to chat off line. Andy
You could try what I have done on my twin spark if you don't mind still having standard exhaust box underneath the engine is take the cat out of it by having the box cut open and re welded, cost me £60, then cut the heads of the exhaust flap bolts and remove the flap. This means there are no exvl errors on the dash, I fitted the short Termi end can, this looks much better, rides smoother even my dealer said that! Noise isn't to loud but much deeper. Turns heads when on the road! And the biggest bonus no problem with insurance issues! Simples!
You still need to tell the insurance company that you have modified the exhaust. A good loss adjuster will notice the removed exhaust valve. Any court would support that the modification increased power, which is a material fact in assessing risk. Note I ride a heavily modified bike....mainly just sorting things that it should have left the factory with.
I doubt my modifications would increase power by more than 5% which is my understanding when it becomes a problem for the insurance companies, I wasn't implying that you should withhold info from insurance quotes, of course I've told them I have a Termi slip on fitted but that is E marked!
I have a 2013 Multi PP I fitted the Full Termi system aand removed the Tiatanuim pipe fitted the short stubby Termi endcan which came with the PP no issues and to my ears sounds great
