Dp Air Filter

Discussion in 'Ducati General Discussion' started by Richie Rich, Feb 9, 2015.

  1. Are ducati performance air filters reusable and any good?

  2. Not really. Go for a K&N. Perform better, last forever and are about the same money.

  3. A good alternative is Pipercross - comparable to the K&N imho.

  4. Or Sprint. Andy

  5. Spec looks good, better than the Sprint I have fitted -bugger ! Andy

  9. I have Ducati performance filters and they don't exactly reek of quality...

  10. Does that hold for all flavours of Ducati?

  11. Have to admit I was talking of 999 filters which sit at the end of air tubes/runners where they enter the air box.
They can be cleaned, re-oiled and re-used but they're none too robust...
My SS had a big paper air-cleaner with an enormous surface area. It couldn't be re-used but that didn't matter because you could use Porsche/Audi ones which are cheap as chips...

  12. BMC are great, except the price. I've used JHP and pipercross over the bell mouth types too and the latter is best of the two. I like the protection they give as even if the tank comes off nothing can get ingested by the motor. But I'm told they rob a bit of power, and have been known to catch fire if the engine spits back through the throttle bodies. Pays your money, take your chances.

  13. BMC filter came today cheers

  14. Hope you get it installed and get a good run out when these baltic winds let go:Cold:
