or DOCGB as the website url is...............Is anyone here a member? Is it any good? And if so why? And why is the website designed like an Asian corner shop window?
I'm a member and loosely organise the Kent Branch! I save more on my insurance than it costs to join each year. The website has just been taken over by someone new and is being re-vamped.
Insurance is always a good reason to join any club if it lowers the premium. I am, but Iv not had to pay to join; maybe its a boot leg! meet new people, get out for some rides. Some will go for the ride, and ride fast. Some are more slow and like to go somewhere for food and drink. Cant really say a bad point for not joining a club after all this forum is in a way a club
yeah i am a member get to meet fellow ducati fans discounts insurance & accessories .clothing great club
been a member for a few years their website is completely useless and has very little traffic their magazine is good They put on good displays at various shows They organise a couple of decent rallys each year And locally you may or may not have a branch within your locality, in my case there is no local branch Insurance discount is of little use as I have all my bikes on a classic policy with Carol Nash Probably will not renew my membership as effectively its an expensive magazine subscription
My Doris bought me membership for a year. I didn't renew. I thought the mag was more like a college fanzine (unless it's changed), website is poor, never found the "discounts" of any use. I appreciate it's a club run by volunteers and all that, just didn't strike me as good VFM. Having said all that there wasn't a chapter local to me and I never put any effort into going to meets elsewhere, so maybe my view is tainted and it's my own lazy arse fault.
I didn't have a local branch, so I started one, it's going well. We're out for a run this Sunday, and next Sunday we're off to France for the day! The mag is put together by volunteers, but the content is all from members, if you want to the mag to improve, write something for it! If each member wrote just a little piece once a year the editor would be spoilt for choice and have a great mag!
There was a local branch started last year but there was insufficient interest for it to remain viable and it ceased to exist earlier this year Work colleage is in italian owners club, they have similar problems trying to get things going at a local basis, it would appear that times are changing and traditional clubs are losing the battle with internet based forums
If you're in London, you could come to the Ship Inn, Wandsworth SW18 1TB on any second Wednesday (12 September, 10 October etc). In theory it's the local branch of DOCGB, but you don't have to be a member or anything. Just turn up 7pm onwards.
I'm a member and have been for several years. The Southern Rally is a good laugh and will be upon us soon. The nearest branch to me is the Berks meet, but it appears to be fairly quiet on that front.
Not a member now but have been in the past on more than one occasion. Last time i rejoined about 10 years ago at the BMF rally i won a Dainese leather jacket in their new members raffle on the same day. I never got any benefit from any discounts etc but thats never why i would join such a club anyway. Their magazine used to be a good read i thought, Yes a little "college fanzine " like but i am a fan of ducati's. Aren't we all and isn't that why were here so no bad thing.
