I heard that Triumph threatened to take the brand off Pidcocks if they opened Ducati next door. Miserable twats.
Yes, i was told that too at the Triumph Tiger 800 launch recently. I think that's reasonable though, because if i had a Triumph that I wanted servicing, i wouldn't be impressed at having to take it to the BMW dealers a mile up the road or have someone else take it there and then return it when i go to pick it up. A dedicated Ducati outlet is better imo.
hi everyone things have been a little quite on the dealership front, things had been delayed due to building issues, we now have a new Home for Ducati Nottingham, it is the dealership currently occupied by Robin Hood Harley Davidson on Queens Road in Beeston, we will be opening early June after a total revamp starts on the place in May, there will have a completely new team starting at the dealership with the exception of Curtis on Sales, This is a massive move for Pidcocks and Nottingham which has been waiting for a long time for Ducati to return to the area.
not going to be to far away we have the bikes ordered ready to land with us in May clothing and accessories will be ordered soon and most importantly the coffee machine will be fully stocked
I agree, a Ducati Showroom in the area can never be a bad thing especially a 20-minute ride from home for me. Great to browse and, for the more affluent of us, buy new/used bikes from a certified dealership. However.............I have my reservations about the service side. Pidcocks opened up a Honda dealership in Long Eaton a couple of years ago, I swiftly went there with my brand new Fireblade, purchased extended dealer warranty from them, had a couple of services, bought parts only for them to then close the Honda franchise. This left me with no choice but to trot off to another "local-ish" main dealer who have been pretty poor I must say (no names mentioned to remain neutral) for the subsequent services/warranty work etc Now I'm sure any dealer would deny it, but...... I used to be in the motor trade and can assure you that main dealers will not give the same service to people who have purchased their machines from elsewhere and been forced to come to their dealership only because their other one has closed. Sorry Pidcocks, your staff at Honda there were very good but the closure did me no favours and I think people would like some assurance as to the longevity of your Ducati project. Anyway, my point is..... I'm now on my 13th and 14th Ducati and it would take something very special to take my custom from Cornerspeed. Nelly is spot on, helpful, reliable, reasonably priced and above all mega-experienced. I will visit the new Pidcocks Ducati, drink coffee, probably buy merchandise (and if they offer a good part-ex on the Blade may even end up riding off on a Panigale in the future). I wish them every success but for me, Cornerspeed will take some beating. Just my two-penneth worth
I'd like to book some test rides in now if that's ok? If we provisionally book for every weekend throughout April, may, June, July and August as a start please and then hopefully by September they'll be a new panigale SF. Obviously we'd then have to definitely cram a few days in before October on that
I thank you for your comments, as stated regarding Honda that was a commercial decision with the direction Honda wanted there dealers to go which was not viable, the Ducati dealership will be a fresh start up with all new staff we are currently recruiting the right team which is no easy task for Ducati owners to be comfortable, I understand regarding Neil from Cornerspeed he is a great guy and we have had some very good and long chats on how we need to build the service department, there is a new team at Pidcocks which is now run by General Manager Dave Munt he is always in the dealership Monday to Friday and is always available for a chat and is very passionate about the Brands we represent.
Recruiting the right team is so important. Please ensure they share our passion for all things Ducati and they understand the importance of the brand. Finding someone who rides into work, has done track days, follows the racing, knows the history of Ducati to me is so important ( more than being able to complete a PCP agreement ) and is something sadly lacking in a lot of dealerships. Also consider the average age of your customers, last thing I want is some 20 something telling me how to ride a bike.
We have a very experienced sales exec who is the only person already employed by Pidcocks and has been for over ten years he has worked with Ducati before and loves the Brand and didn't need to think about the move has done motorbike racing and is well and truly into bikes, and not close the 20's but wishes he was
One comment I missed earlier in this thread regarding scrambler yes it is a separate franchise however due to the size of the dealership we will be stocking the range of bikes in the new showroom, Triumph did not threaten to take the franchise of us but as the longest established dealer in the UK did not want us to have the two manufacturers together hence the big investment for us into Queens road, after 45 years in business this is a superb site and franchise to join forces with. Dave Munt
Hi all as a queens road resident i and many others were very pleased to hear that the harley dealer was moving having to listen to loads of illegal very loud drag pipes all summer and having the street/vehicle access blocked constantly is no fun.we now find that ducati is moving in instead what if anything will ducati nottingham be doing to keep noise to a minimum and access clear for all?. but am i wrong and are harley and ducati owners very different and do not feel the need to rev up their engines constantly whilst pretending to be hells angels?.
Surely your questions should be aimed at the right people, and not some forum of people that ride Ducatis.
Or democratically oppose the licence for an industrial / sales / commercial development prior to it being established, which was probably before you moved in to your house
