So Who's Buying A New Bike This Year?

  1. Try one Paul. They are quite low. Even I could get my feet down flat on the floor :)

  2. Is that with the seat in its lowest position? I won't be buying one if they're too low. The 2013 model was the first Ducati I've felt comfortable on!

  3. Yes I think it was in the low position. Suited me just fine :)

  4. Multistrada. Provided I like it when I test ride it.

  5. Have you tried the new liquid cooled 1200 engine? its an absolute corker. Knocks all previous incarnations flat. Those who are familiar only with the single knocker and pushrod air-cooled are in for a surprise. I've only ridden it in GS form but I would imagine the new R1200R will be a cracking roadster. The red and white styling isn't my cup of tea but in performance terms, if the GS is anything to go by, it ought to give the 1200 Monster a run for its money on the tarmac and the saleroom.

  6. I haven't tried the new one no. But I have tremendous antipathy towards that engine configuration AND shaft drives. Put the two together and pulling away from lights etc is bike hell for me! I never bought an RS100 because though it was a great bike in every other respect I couldn't have lived with it because of that. My trips to the States proved that for me.

But I will take a test ride because lots of people have said what you're saying and I'm probably wrong. We shall see.

  7. Bear in mind the GS will have a Paralever front end and the R1200R has conventional teles. I didn't notice excessive torque reaction or back lash but then I was too busy laughing at the grunt to care.
I think the best (least obtrusive) shaft drive I've ever ridden is the Triumph Explorer. Shame the engine felt more like a four than a gnarly triple.

  8. Agree re the Triumph. I also found it felt really ponderous and agricultural.

  9. Actually the Honda Crosstourer has an excellent shaft drive as well. Its just a bit of a dull bike.

  10. Just purchased 0miles 20th edition 1100evo monster.

  11. Pani R hopefully here for easter. Said goodbye to my MTS after 4 great years.

  12. ... or possibly paralever at the rear and telelever at the front?

  13. I had a quick test ride on an R9T ( I was honoured !! ) and it felt very responsive, went well, good raspy sound, very impressed, the only things I'll have to get used to is the traffic light wobble and I kept banging my shins against the things that stick out the sides....

I like the basic functions also, speedo and rev counter......that's it.

  14. Yes. Very definitey that way round. Good spot.

  18. wr probably the better bet.. a mate back home had a mx track in his back yard, well several did but one night after having a few and doing a burn out on his living room carpet, i was sure i could do the track on my 250 ninja.. i couldnt.. should have stuck with the burnouts indoors
