Converting my 999S for the track and the engine managment light has come on.

  1. Started converting my 999s 2004 bike into a track race bike, and the first job was to remove fairings, headlamp and front wiring loom. I have managed to get hold of a Ducati front race loom and fairing bracket (looks nice bit of kit).

    Anyway i carefully swaped all the conectors over and was left with one block conector spare hanging from the l/h handlebar switch gear, also two wires that come from the clutch lever.

    What are the two wires from the clutch lever and could it cause the light to come on?

    The engine starts fine and runs ok but the yellow managment light is on. On the race loom i have a spare two wire plug that i cant see anywhere it conects to.

    Once again the forums help is needed.

  3. Cant help with the light, but as regard the fast idle I lost my lever when I did a a rebuild. No great loss as I never used the fast idle at all, you'll be fine without it

  4. The two wires from the clutch are for the clutch switch (so you can start the bike in gear etc).

    Regarding the engine light, have you taken the air temperature sensor from the old set up to your race bracket?

  6. No i dont think i have... DOH! That will be hiden in the headlamp housing yes.

  7. The sensor is in a rubber boot which is just pushed into the right hand side of the original headlight.

    Google 'Ducati 999 air temperature sensor' and take a look at pics of it.

    Your race bracket (which looks like the Pierobon one) should have a similar rectangular opening for the sensor on one side!

  8. Stretta dead right going to swap it over tonight. Ive loads of question regarding preping a 999 for the track, wht to do and what not. Will proberbly start a new post but if any one got some guild line to start with it will be much appreciated. My 2nd track day at cadwell the 6th on her and first race racing it at October at East Fortune with the NEMCRC.
