it was our first long trip and we had no way of knowing- besides I rather carry spare fuel than get stranded in the middle of nowhere-0 now we know- there are other "possibly unnecessary" things that came in handy (bike covers, extra straps, spare gloves, winter baselayers etc) so was all part of the learning curve... although I too will be packing less next time as this was perhaps a bit ridiculous... I had 100 litres (one Kriega R30 rucksack and the Oxford 70 litres waterproof bag)
HAHAHAA poor bike, on the autobahn it was like having a parachute attached to the back ... she still managed close to 160mph (once we sorted the coil pack clip out) all in all it was a memorable trip -
Ciao bello! Used to live not TOO far away in Pomigliano D'Arco back in 1990...had an RG500 which I would razz around Amalfi on a weekend on occasion, dodging the potholes, Pandas, Ape's etc, avoiding scraping my helmet on the cliff face on right handers...typical mezzogiorno driving hazards really!
