1200 The Omg Did He Really Ask That Thread!

  1. Yes,... not that I'm a total novice but having only been too one ducati dealership & been given a certain amount of grilling by the lloyds "are you in the correct place" finance guy (it felt like that). I'm less than willing to go along for more abrupt & lackluster conversations of how ones dream is inevitably popped by a shabby now broken F800GS outside; worse for wear for 7 years & 75K mileage.

    Right then, stupid question one.

When you buy a multistrada & then buy a package. Do you get too keep the old original parts? Such as the sports-pack; do you keep the exhaust & front mud-guard!

*Cringes from the ridicule about to be thrown*

  2. When I purchased my 2012 Touring they were offering the top box, sat nav and touring screen as a freebie. It was a pack at the time (I think) and I swapped the sat nav for the termi stubbie. Once everything was fitted I then brought the original parts home.

Never really thought about it before but you're buying both items so why shouldn't you keep both? I'll be returning mine back to standard if I decide to trade in for the new version and looking to sell on the incompatible parts.

  3. The simple answer is yes I think!!
My 1199 came with standard cans but part of deal buying it was they would fit Termi's when I picked the bike up they gave the standard cans in a box.
This has been the case on all my Ducs that have been offered with free Termi's.

  4. When I ordered the automatic petrol filler cap with my new Multi in 2011, I also got to keep the old (manual) cap. So yes.

  5. I think the general answer is yes however the Touring Pack can ordered as "factory fitted" so I guess you might not get the original "non-heated" grips. I understand that all the other packs are fitted by the dealer and therefore you should get the original parts, assuming you ask (and pay?) for the dealer to fit them for you, otherwise you just get a big box of bits to take home :)

When I've ordered hands free / keyless filler caps and had them fitted from new by the dealer, I've also been given the original.

You also get the two front and two rear mudguards. I'd recommend asking the dealer to fit the longer versions, as the short front mudguard is very short. Along with the handbook, service and warranty booklets in a folder you get a Multistrada booklet, accessories and apparel catalogs.

You should also get three lock barrels which can be fitted into panniers and/or top box. They are usually in the tool bag under the seat along with a tubeless puncture kit and a wire loop for locking a helmet to the bike.

  7. Now ask where to put the tax disc.

  8. Number two; panniers weighing up the pro's & con's of makes.

Ducati topbox & side panniers = £439 + £692 They might be made from strong plastic but I prefer metal for its defensive advantages. Plus you can use a side pannier as a seat at a camp site.

Touratech Zega Pro full set £1,400+....anyone got them?? Was the metal hanging brackets part of the package or extra.

  9. I've the Touratech kit on my Multi and think it's the dogs.
I know aesthetics are subjective but personally I think they look good.
The brackets were included in the price I paid,I'm pretty sure the bags were as well.
Like you said, for camping they're brilliant for sitting on,try that on the Ducati ones.
