1000 Dry Clutch To Wet Conversation Possible ???

  1. hi i'm a new comer to ducati scene but own a benelli 1130 TNT & a buell XB9S
    I'm trying to find out if anyone has manage to convert the dry clutch to a wet clutch on a multistarada 1000s ds ? is it possible ?

    another idea what about fill the case a 1/4 full of oil ? sound a bit too easy tho !! or just need to come to terms with the beast ? any info would be helpful regards peter

  3. thanks steve for info ! might be the way to go as this knocking rattle sounds in neutral with clutch out is horrible but with clutch pulled in, not too bad ! i've look at clutch & seems to be knock fook out of basket fingers slots !
     
  4. hi you know of anyone who has converted from wet to dry clutch or just a possiblity of if working & could be expensive for a might work ?
     
  5. If the noise is your only problem, do search on quiet clutch mod, worked a treat on mine! If you decide that's what you want to try, pm me as I have spare plates you can have for the postage.
     
  6. I asked my dealer about convertin 1098/1198 to wet clutch and they said not possible.
    I am assuming its the same for all dry clutch Ducati's

  8. I ask my local dealer & said it would cost £1000 ($1500) at least & wouldn't be able to give me a guarantee it would work :(

    I can look in to it at the shop when i have the chance!!

    Might not be a straight fit, but I can make anything work!!

    Dealers don't leave paved paths... I rather pave my own paths....

  13. If the rattle is you're main PITA... Check your clutchbasket for wear... It might just need replacement, if so then I advise a 48T EVR kit with a anti-clank pressure plate.... Huge difference with a worn out stock clutch
     
  14. the clutch basket has got little teeth marks up the side were the clutch plates have wore a grove away & fingers on clutch friction plates have worn a little too ! bike got just short of 15000 miles on clock tho wet clutch last 45000 miles plus, I've never had a clutch wear out on me before ! I thought about getting the basket for dry clutch but will have same problem in a few years again :( so was trying to make a wet clutch mod as will be less trouble in future

    I look at evr clutches but are in usa ! not sure if they are available in uk tho but will look into this as well ! thank you for your info & time :)

  15. EVR is Italian, you should def. be able to find it in the UK for sure... Ebay can be your friend... ;-)

    I reckon buying a new stock or EVR clutch every once and a while will still be more cost efficient than converting to wet... I would only do it because its a unique and never been done before mod (I just love out-of-the-box engineering)

  17. I know what you mean about engineering problem solving ! I'm trained in mechanical & electrical engineering at college. I tried ducati uk & ask them but seems that the question went to wrong department, they did reply tho to say that.
    multstrada 1100s has a wet clutch tho & makes me think it could work ??? I've put a bit of semi harding gasket sealent between the 1st 2 metal plates to cushion them & put the original cover back on & made the noise alot quiter ! food for thought tho the multistrada 1100s clutch, if only I could see the dimension inside the clutch basket ? would make life easier :) once again thanks for your input :)
