Just did the Spansih week.... and must say i am very happy.... again a big thanks to Steve who applied his magic to the setup that reflects the setup the 15R will carry with a step forward in steepening the steering angle to 24° iso 24.5° ... we also raised the front to stiffen up the back and keep her more in line under braking.... took a while ot figure out it was the ebc 1 settings and the downshift blipper combined that caused some dribble in the front ... so waiting a tad longer to do so solved that.... now the bike really feels great for the first time... utterly stable and flickable at the same time... holding its line much better under throttle... also the extra 9 horses pack a punch especially in 2 nd and third, easily offsetting the 5kg i put on over winter and that no will have to go.... as to the results ... did a decent 2:14 on aragon and dropped 2 seconds off my PB to a 1:50:3 , just pipping Luc and holding myself up amongst some pritty fast riders... so couldn't be happier.... a good go at the 1:49 as probably some dirty fuel shut the last afternoon session to a halt... i am especially happy with the fact that we now have come to a point that the bike is really optimal, that we seem to get some changes to local settings ( PL, COMP, REB.. tire-pressures) right and are still capable of putting all that to good use to come up with some significant better laptimes.... so where i thought that 2014 might have been the peak performance year, now i am optimistic that perhaps 2015 may be that year... from all this i dare to suggest that the 2015R bike will be one hell of a bike ... and that for those not wanting to put up the money, that 1299 will be the beast of beasts.... as i won't be abl to ride it in Belgium or UK i took the desmo to Spain just to do some stints on it and get myself some pictures.... it s a stunning bike to look at but frankly it is now outdated.... still its getting mythical... also here Steve did a magical job on the mapping making it butter smooth... pics of Valencia are coming up later....
with the 2015 R coming up soon , it s time to take some calls on that project.... or is there another one in the wings ?
yes.... had to switch to alu tank when we planned to do the 6h of SPA.... decided for the silver Bayliss 996 imola tribute... put the stickers on and then binned it 15 minutes later after a full km.... ... sort of erased that day from my memory...
thats the beauty of all that electricery and traction control:Banghead: Kope what were you doing.............?
that looks amazing in the silver colour (before the crash) what you going to do with the 1199r when you start the 1299r project??
Was on warm up lap when guy at full race pace aimed for my frontwheel.. Didn t saw that coming and outbraked myself throwing me off... bike must have flipped on it s roof.. ) )
That,s the last straw!.... not only do you have some of the most drop dead gorgeous bikes on track that I,ve seen, and seem to spend half your life on exotic trackdays, you,ve surpassed yourself this time. Most of us have onboard cameras, You,ve gone and got your own cameraman. (Not envious at all)
The 1199R in Bayliss Imola colours looks mega. Pity what happened but you picked yourself up and carried on with the passion and that's what counts.
some latest addtions... Factory inlets.... should get her breathing better at top of the range... should be close to 200 bhp at the rear now... and on Steve non optimistic dyno, that is as good as it ever is going to get...
